I don’t think we marginally overachieved on pre tournament expectations.
If someone at the beginning of the tournament told us:
1: We would lose by four to Belgium.
2: We would lose by two to Egypt.
3: We would draw against Iran (which being the opener really was a game we should have won considering the shit they had to deal with)
The only saving grace is we discovered we actually have a gem of a footballer in Just who popped off three goals.
Without his contribution then the tournament would be called a disaster.
And losing by four to a team around our ranking pre tournament wasn’t flash either.
Now, if we take some learnings from the last few weeks (which at a minimum begins with getting a new coach and refresh) then something would have been achieved.
