A few lineup clues in this latest AV article

Seems Payne keeps his place, Bell probably comes in for Rufer, and we may see two of Old, McCowatt & Garbett come in for Singh & Randall.

Apparently Baze still hasnt made up his mind about our #1 keeper either, and
Crocombe & Paulsen could play half & half again, which I find strange. Seems like it is almost bordering on cowardice and indecisiveness at this point, make up your mind Baze, give your main man some confidence! Give your back 4 and keeper enough time so they can be fully coherent and cooperative.

Tuchel's press conference from this morning in Florida (evening in USA):
16 mins:
Concerns raised about state of the pitch
16.45:
He plans to field two completely different teams, one in each half to give all squad members a run.
(NB: the four Arsenal players won't be available but numbers will be made up with a group of young players who are only there for the camp and not part of the tournament squad)
Weather conditions: first three days of training in Florida were overcast and not hot but only the past 24 hours were sunny.
Lightening storms continue to be a problem - England traiing held up for one hour today by lightening strikes in the area.
22.30: In the NZ game, is the priority minutes in the legs or partnerships?
"Tomorrow the focus is more on the minutes....everyone will be given some minutes.
More about connections within each area of the field - back four, wings, when do we initiate the high press etc.
The focus tomorrow is more on the minutes and connections between two or three players.
In training today we spoke about NZ and the special things that NZ does, in their deep build up and about their structure   and how we can initiate the high press"
28.45: Everyone is fit and available for tomorrow. No injury concerns in the squad.
29.25: Tuchel has emphasized previously in the conference that he isn't thinking forward to what's required vs. Croatia in their WC opener and implementing that in the NZ game. The focus is on themselves right now, he will switch the focus to Croatia the week before that game.
He will still be processing his options over these two friendlies, depending on performance and fitness, though he has a clear idea of 14 or 15 starters for the WC already.

Concerns raised by the English media about the state of the pitch for tomorrow's game, as raised with Tuchel in the press conference I posted above:

https://www.dailymail.com/sport/football/article-15876053/England-World-Cup-preparations-DISJOINTED-pitch-plug-play-eerie-flashback-woeful-2014-tournament.html?ito=native_share_article-top

"England will kick-off their World Cup preparations on a ‘plug and play’ pitch laid just a week ago.

Thomas Tuchel and his Three Lions start their friendly double-header with a clash against New Zealand at the Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on Saturday. And when they step out of the tunnel in Florida they will do so onto a new surface that is prompting some questions in the Sunshine State.

Pictures taken on Thursday and obtained by Daily Mail Sport show the turf appearing slightly disjointed in parts - and traveling FA ground staff are thought to be liaising with the venue ahead of the 4pm kick-off.

One groundsman at a leading EFL club examined the shots and said they showed that sections of the surface were yet to ‘blend properly’.

They explained: ‘That’s the giveaway that it’s only just been laid. Ideally you would want to leave it for the roots to form into a profile and the pitch to settle but that hasn’t happened here. These types of pitches are called "plug and play" because they are designed to be played on in a few days.’
However, while it may look a little patchy, ground staff at the venue are thought to be confident that the freshly-laid surface will not present any major issues.

Given many of the venues at the tournament are not soccer-specific, such pitches will be commonplace across the World Cup, although most will have had significantly longer to bed in."

Interesting the comment about our deep build up - we really are going to have to manage ball speed - Boxall esp as his passing can be a little soft. Slow ball speed will put the back 4 under pressure. DMs will need to be confident and show for the ball so we don't resort to pinging Wood and having 25% of the pill.

This is a real test of players "wanting the ball", "wanting to play".

Exciting.

Esp given Tuchel is going to change his whole team at HT, ie his first half team charge for 45 mins come off, and a fresh 11 then do it all again for another 45 in the heat.

On the other hand Bazeley will be looking to get minimum 60 mins now out of Payne and Libby, building up their loads for the WC matches (in cooler conditions than Florida).

It might a bit of repeat of Haiti. We look almost decent with our top 11 on the field. But it could be very tough late on, with them having fresher players, and our backups nowhere near the same class. Wouldn't surprise if we revert to a back 5 in the 2nd half.

Really interested to see how Libby goes against high quality EPL players.
Same Surman, Stamenic & Bindon.

Regardless, the All Whites must move a bit faster. They were too slow against Haiti. Starters and substitutes. Even though the Miami forecast is 29 degrees heat. At least have defenders and defensive midfield chase back fast some moments to get in habit for World Cup. Don't be 6 metres off the attackers again and again.

I heard on a UK pod that they expect England to bang a few goals at the start and then just knock it around. The point being not to completely humiliate NZ.
Interesting Tuchel said they would impliment their high press. Could be a tough night for the kiwis at the back.
For me the last 30 mins will be tough. England swap their team at half time and we bring on our AL guys...could get messy

I’ve got it listed on DAZN with notifications ready to go. However, I had that with the Haiti game and it vanished after the delayed start.

The game has England and several million dollars worth of PL stars. There will be numerous and easily available streams, if the more legitimate channels fail again…

Apparently was fine on TvNZ plus last time around?

Geez Voerman looks really happy in the American sunshine!

TVNZ+/TVNZ 2 stream was alright. A bit jittery at times, but that's kind of expected with a low production budget fixture. Would expect the England stream to be a lot better given the production budget will be a lot higher than the Haiti game.

Even if we were to win, or draw as Iraq did with Spain, it wouldn't really mean anything. England have made it quite clear they're going to be very experimental in this game. We drew with an experimental Norway who were just as impressive as England in qualifying, who cares or remembers?

All I'm hoping for is a creditable performance, and in particular some real defensive stability with no goals just straight up given away cheaply. Would love for a keeper & CB pair to put in a performance so good that they pick themselves for Iran, and for at least one attacker other than Wood & Just to do the same. So we could go into that game as fans with some real confidence in our side.

AV did hint at Garbett coming in the other day otherwise I'd be surprised Garbett was starting. Not expecting him to do well, he hasn't had a good game for NZ since he was made persona non grata in Holland. Hope he proves me wrong. Otherwise happy enough with the XI, would rather Thomas in for Singh if he was fit though.

I like Garbs, thought he was one of the few positives from last weeks second half where he just wanted to try get some shots away, I feel he’s someone who could make something happen so happy to see him given a shot out wide. I think (and could very well be wrong) he was mainly used as a ACM for us so maybe the change of position to wide right could be his reinvention much like old at LB

Hmmm.

Was it Singh not Stamenic who coughed that up? Edit: gone back and checked and it was Stamenic.
Think Singh has to start.

Still think this is the starting team with Garbett’s spot the only one under pressure, unless Thomas or McCowatt starts for Singh. But surely that doesn’t happen? Singh will play and we’ll try to get him right…

honestly might be better to move Just central and start Old out wide. Just is lacking pace for effective counter attack out wide but will still provide good creativity in the middle.

I really like Singh but he simply doesn’t have the physicality to play at a higher level. In addition to his injury issues obviously.

This is why he has struggled for minutes in the Serbian league and Portuguese second division in the last 2-3 years.

Just, Old and McCowatt much better options against superior opposition.

Bell and Crocombe very tidy so far.

Tbf England doesn’t have the pressure of a hot cauldron of Haiti supporters !

Pace a bit more leisurely.

What’s happened there? Garbett doesn’t get tight, then Boxall is marking space not Kane?

Shame after all the hard work of the half.

Looked to me like we had checked out waiting for half time in this heat and we were duly punished. Tommy Smith not doing his job as a cultural architect

Fair play, Kane's header was classed. He skimmed it off the back of his head and knew it would go in, it was a classy goal.

Aside from Wood, is there a more important player for us than Bell? Midfield looks miles better with and without the ball now he's back.

Crocs and Payne have been good value too I've thought. Some outstanding hold up play from Woodsy too.
Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

Happy enough with that half but we were pretty poor with the openings we fashioned and England are nowhere near at full intensity. I think the CBs and Crocombe have made a big claim on Iran starts. Singh has to be benched, why anybody thinks he should be starting after the season he just had is beyond me

Bring  McCowatt on for Sigh at half time.

Keep the rest and combinations going for the next half an hour.

No point in bringing on A league players at this stage - achieves nothing.
