Man if only we could actually score goals. Wood concerns me sometimes, not a big game player and every match for NZ is a big game. We don't have any other options though.

If every match for NZ is a big game and he is by far and away our all time leading goalscorer then how is he not a big game player?
Well maybe not every match for us. PI teams excluded of course and the odd match against even or lower ranked teams.
I guess I mean more the matches where we are really up against it. Not sure out team composition really suits him all that well in these matches. He's absolutely our best options though, we need to feed him better. Hopefully we can do that with Cacace and old out there going forward.
the delivery is not quite right. and we don't create a lot of openings. our wide guys don't stretch the field and we don't get crosses in.
EPL teams have a definted method of attack where timing and quality is important and the right players are almost mechanically making the right runs.
it's just a different type and standard of football. it's not unusual to see it not connect with a solo 9. if this can be rememdied then we will be a heck of a team.
This. Without labouring the point, Payne puts that cross where he should and Wood has a tap in for 1-0. That happens in a Forest game but Timmy P ain’t near EPL quality.
And look I think Payne went okay. His runs off those raking Bindon switches gave the AWs many of their best chances.
Let’s hope for some goals in Penrose. In the brief post game chat with Wood he blamed himself for not scoring. He’ll be motivated for game 2.
