Surman will start, you don't fly him all the way from the States not to.
Boxy on the other hand is 37, and it's getting near the business end of the MLS regular season, when he flies all the way back to the Twin Cities.
The Minny coach would be livid if Boxy isn't rested for a friendly, knowing Surman is also there in NZ. Nothing between the two of them anyway.
Has Rogerson done much in preseason with Auckland? That's what I'd be looking at rather than what he did last season. Most of the ALM guys coming on last night, were a significant step down. As others have mentioned, them still being in early season mode doesn't help.
Could Just go to the right flank, and Old start on the left?
I really don't rate Elliott. There is a reason he's failed twice overseas. No way I think should he start. Poppa will know his limitations very well, he had him in Greece for 12 mths, without a minute of playing time. It was an odd signing at the time.
Poppa also with some interesting selection picks. His starting 11 were mostly pretty established guys, but the likes of Hrustic and Boyle were very average. Toure, Balard, Irankunda etc coming on definitely added something. But how much was that them, compared to the inferior AWs subs coming on, plus Baze taking off a midfielder and going 3 CBs?

Yeah fully agree that Surman will start, and that Boxall will get rested, makes sense to manage his minutes at his age, and insure come World Cup time he is ready to go.
I use to really rate Elliot it’s just unfortunate he hasn’t managed to kick on yet, I’d personally stay with Payne at RB if he’s injury free, and I’d like to see McG to start ahead of FDV, although I was super critical of him I do think FDV is probably better coming off the bench when opponents legs are tired and he can offer more then
