That game was a disappointment, particularly after a promising performance against china earlier in the tour.
The key to this game was failing to score in the first 30 minutes, we had the upper hand and had the Thai's under the pump for the most part. Once they realised we couldn't scored in a brothel they grew in confidence and pushed forward more and more. Rojas going off also seemed to deeply effect our play, with the link between the defense and attack severed. The thai's continued to grow in confidence throughout the game.
Storm roux looked completely exposed for the second game running at right back, with the large amount of the Thai's attacks coming down his flank. It was a really poor performance from him.
Wood also seemed to die about the 60 minute mark and seems rediculous one footed for a premier league player (albiet from the bench)
Wee-mac also seemed to die in the last period when we completely lost shape.
In view of all the angst, one needs to recall that most of the Thai's opportunities came in the last 30 minutes. During this period our back four became something like Keat-smith-boxall- payne, which is absurd. Also our front three featured three central based strikers that persisted in making the same runs (brockie, vincent and wood), none of which tracked back in defense.
Football like life is about taking chances, and we sure as hell missed our opportunities which allowed the thais to grow in stature and confidence. I'm not trying to make excuses for a poor performance, but some rediculous coaching decisions were going on out there. Our structure was terrible at the end as we threw everything going forward, finishing with a 4 (full backs being DM)- ?(who knows what was going on in the middle) - 3(very central strikers on top of each other.
So for next time we need 1) man to put ball into net in an onside position, 2) maintain structure for 90 mins
