Thinking about the game, I'm surprised that the strikers on the bench weren't given a run.

I'd hate to be in that Peru sitiuation again where we have no form nation team strikers (apart from Wood) and miss out on another WC spot due to Wood being injured or off form.

Wood is never really off form, and even if he was in say a barren run at Burnley, he's the first picked on AWs team sheet every time. And he'll play the full 90, both Playoff games if fit. Socceroos would kill for a striker of Wood’s level.

But yes if he's injured circa Peru 2017, massive concern. Waine could well be the next pick as like for like. Hopefully he scores plenty for Nix, next few months.

Plus hopefully APL/Nix, can re jig the draw so that Nix have a bye(s) late January, and Hay can take some A League guys away for that January window. Nix are scheduled to return NZ late Jan, TT bubble permitting?? Maybe they can play 1 or more midweek games in NSW before they leave, so creating a bye week?
