I can see her point to some degree, even the amateur men get the benefit of being put in the shop window by playing for NZ with a chance of being picked up in one of the literally dozens of professional leagues around the world, for the woman there are far fewer professional leagues and those that are professional pay far less so they don't get the same sort of benefits.

However, it is also the nature of a niche sport in NZ. Probably only the NZ netballers get anything close to a wage playing for NZ and they are also semi professional. I wonder how the demands of football are different from the demands of hockey for instance?

It's actually surprising and positive that the FF get the same retainer as the men. It is still deeply unfair and shows that we still don't live in an equal society.
