Can England women's team play in the Olympics' or qualify for it?.

No..There will be no England, or Great Britain football team competing at the Olympics

Just  had a walk down the main drag in Vancouver. There is an absolute sharkload of Americans here. All draped in flags.

Edit: and now in the 52nd minute, Japan make it 2-4.  But as I type in the 54 min, USA score again to make it 5-2.   How many 7 goal finals have their been?  Incredible.

None in either of the mens or womens World Cups.

Is it the first hattrick in a final since Geoff Hurst? I know there hasn't been another men's one but don't know the history of the women's tournaments.

Womens game in America to continue to be more popular than the Mens then? 'Mericans love a winner.

I thought France were pretty good and would have given the US a run for their money.

France were arguably the best team, alongside the USA. Both Germany and Japan were disappointing IMO. The Japanese were very technical, but to what end? Their attacking play frequently fizzled out limply in the final third.Germany looked like a team past it's best, although I'm sure they'll rectify that in the immediate future. Thought England did well despite being technically inferior to these teams: if they can build on their performances (through funding etc) and develop more technical players, they could make the leap into that top bracket

The English FA trying to make Laura Bassett feel better by scoring an even more spectacular own goal....

We finished 19/24 teams at the tournament.  I hope we can improve and make further strides in France 2019.

Funny how our girls and womens teams have been improving over the last 15 years but our male game seems to be stumbling along. Same pathways and systems in place from the National body for the girls/womans game but people blame the national body for the state of the mens game.

There is a common denominator and I would put money on JR agreeing with me here, there is far less ego floating around the womens peripheral scene as there is in the mens game. Lessons to be learned there, too many involved in the mens/boys game are mostly interested in forwarding their own agendas whereas the womens game has far less of that and far more focus on the bigger cause.

Cant think of any female version of Declan Edge bigging up themselves every time they can  in the womans game. 

the sad thing is that most males dont understand that the girls/womans game is a huge asset to the male game here in NZ and that it is something that can help the male game move forward. 

Male Ego, it is a major problem in football in NZ.

The win over Brazil was really no surprise to me, The way the women's game has developed I kinda am at the point i expect results. I believe the last world cup where the Ferns under performed was maybe due to high expectations and it affect the team. 

I don't think that will be the case for Rio 2016. I hope one day we can have a kiwi team playing in the W-League.

Looks like Brazil started playing like Brazil - 3-1 to them now

Yep Brazil all over us in the second half (didn't see the first).  2-1 was a soft goal from a by line free kick, 3rd goal was a 25 yard screamer.

4-1 now. Good effort FF

Ferns battery's where truly flat in that second half. They did well - Bring on Rio!!!
