Abby Erceg has retired from international football, again

(Does this mean it was her who was complaining about Heraf to the press?)

So, we have pay parity, but in the same breath we also have an organization that threatens players, refuses to allow them to speak freely and bullies them into retirement. Not cool.

He's talking about this https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/10...

"Multiple players have voiced their concerns to Stuff, with one prepared to go on the record until New Zealand Football and the New Zealand Professional Footballers' Association intervened."

I was sad to see that Ria Percival is unavailable.

Also a little perplexed to see Rosie White included given her recent surgery. Surely we don't want to rush players back in after injury. Does anyone know if she has even had any gametime this year?? I think she is a great player so I would hate to see her face an injury due to a premature return??

She was an unused sub for the Stars in there recent game against the Dash on the 13th May. Otherwise hasn't played since 24th September 2017. But if her club is happy to start having her on the bench then hopefully she must have/is coming right

That's what I mean ... we shouldn't take anyone who is 'coming' right. We should only play them when they are fully fit :/

Good point actually.

I just checked and the Scudetto final between Juventus and Brescia (women) will be played on May 20th, so plenty of time to hop on a plane and make her way down under.

Interestingly enough, both teams ended the league on 60 points, hence the 'final' - otherwise the team with the most points would have won.

YIPES seems so:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/10...

"NZF chief executive Andy Martin went on Radio Sport on Friday and said retiring Ferns defender, Abby Erceg, had been the player who had wanted to go on the record.

Stuff takes source protection very seriously and will not confirm if Erceg was the player involved."

Martin = weasel

Given the fact that we can't buy women's shirts what do you think the chances will be of the team raffling off theirs? I'd love one but think it is ridiculous that you can't buy in women's sizes at a women's match.

Coach TAKAKURA Asako’s Comment

With the FIFA Women’s World Cup fast approaching, we must heighten our quality as a team. We will continue with what we have been working on, especially after winning the AFC Women's Asian Cup, but we must keep in mind what we lacked during the Cup matches and improve on them. I have based my selection on players’ experience, with the exception with NAGANO, who is making her first national team call-up. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held this year, and with the intention to heighten the team’s potential, while considering the team balance, I have elected to call her up at this timing. She will be the youngest player in this squad, but I don’t want her to hesitate to display her skills and wide perspective view on the pitch.

What a disgrace the way New Zealand have set up. 24%  possession and the scoreline are both flattering. Almost hope we get whipped so this "coaching Team" gets the boot. Used to be proud that the Ferns tried to play football.

Has been a very negative set up - can understand wanting to play on the counter and use our height on set pieces, but we are just sitting deep and knocking the ball out and waiting for it to start again.

I wonder if there is why there is some supposed squad angst?
