Matildas lost 7-0 to Newcastle Jets U15 boys last night. Wouldn't read too much into it - sounds like both teams were set up in training drill formations.

There was a good question of why the fixture even existed.

Even if the Matlidas thumped them you'd have good reason to question why the game was a thing in the first place in regards to the teams image.  Just seeing a headline like that could stop people caring about womens football as a level inferior to the under 15's comp, even if it was a weakened squad.

I dunno, just seems dumb.  Should have played the closest w-league team or something, if they got thumped in that game you'd just be questioning the recruiting.

The people who care about womens football already know and understand why an U15 boys team of decent quality can beat a womans international side. Those who would find it as a reason to stop caring are not the sorts of people that the womans game would worry about losing anyway.

All around the world womans international sides will from time to time have a training match against an age group boys side. Its been done here a number of times with our various age group womens international sides having closed door games against boys team. Its nothing new. Again, if you understand the difference between mens and womens football and why those differences exist then these sorts of training games wont have you batting an eyelid. Those sorts of games arent dumb, they are done for a purpose.  Dumb is not being able to work out why those types of games are played.

...wow what a dick.  I'm guessing in your opinion that smart people just talk down to people you see as dumb instead of explaining things.  Because smart people are people who cant explain something but just shark on people in forums for having an opinion.  Even if the opinion may be misinformed or wrong, to you it makes more sense to be a condescending prick than to help inform misinformed people.

To summarize your post: Smart people know the thing so don't say it, dumb people don't know the thing and don't get told it.  If your smart your smart and make condescending posts, if you're dumb your dumb and don't need to know things.

come on mr smart and almighty person, what is it about males under the age of 15 that helps an adult woman's international squad in a way that isn't condescending that an adult professional football club from the same catchment area couldn't achieve?

"Those who would find it as a reason to stop caring are not the sorts of people that the womans game would worry about losing anyway."

Oh OK and do you represent all woman's football supporters with that view?  I just would like to understand if its a common opinion among woman's football fans that they don't want more supporters, and as such more money in the woman's game.  I mean I would like to see our woman's teams make way more money and the only way that happens is with more viewers and headlines that may undermine the level of skill in the tournament is something I see as an issue, as sometimes or occasional fans (fans that may just flick on the TV because its on) can add up to big numbers.  Its interesting to see you'd rather it didn't grow by turning those fans into potentially long terms supported and instead snobbing them off.

The womens game keeps growing around the world and it will continue to do so even if there are these results happening.

Answer this one .

These games have been happening for a very long time so if it hasnt hindered the growth in the past why would it do so now?

Gets worse from you doesnt it. Dont pick your nose, your head will cave in.

Nothing smart about being able to work out why an U15 boys team can beat an international womens side. If you cant work that one out then..... dear oh dear...

Answer this one genius.
