Absolute disgrace coming out of retirement to play a part in the Build up to the Olympics then pull the pin again after making your 100th game.Very very selfish this smacks of player power, who runs this team the players or the coach what a joke this is. Giving the jersey away maybe the previous coach was right disgrace from start to finish
The only "absolute disgrace" here is how ignorant this comment is. Try clicking the link in the post above, for starters.
NZ players (male and female) generally don't get testimonial games (farewell matches which act as a chance for fans and fellow players to show appreciation for a player's career, where some of the profits go to the player or a charity) as has always been a tradition in Britain and Europe for star players.
So this was nice for a star national team player - a way to bid farewell in a prominent friendly and allow Sarah to get her 100th cap.
I have no problem with it.
Sarah will be adding a lot to the squad with her experience, character and intelligence off the field too.
As a top official with the women's international players' union FIFPro, Sarah will have a lot to offer in women's football admin in the future.
I think I read recently that the German national men's team invited a player back for one last cap in a friendly last year even though he was no longer in the national team's plans going forward...same thing....
