Having watched all of our games under her, the scorelines have been flattering to say the least.
Against Australia, we were so far behind them in every aspect other than the score it was embarrassing. Had Australia brought their finishing boots to both games we would have lost by 5+ each time. The Norway score was also flattering, we never looked likely and had we poached a goal at the end to draw (before their late 2nd) it would have been robbery.
We have no cohesion going forward with our midfield all but non-existant. We simply look to hit long to an isolated Wilkinson. Nothing goes through the middle. Our best technical player Chance, spends more time playing as a LB than she does as a left sided midfielder, she has to drop that deep.
There is not a single stat (possession, goals, shot attempts etc) that suggests anything other than we are poor.
Have we gone backwards... no
have we gone forwards... no
And that for me is an issue, given the investment, the regular camps and games against top teams, we are yet to see progression. Yes we are missing players, but every team is missing players.
Our NZ women's team is a top 25 ranked team, we should be doing better.
I can not honestly believe the free pass she is getting on this forum. This sort of latitude would never be given to an All Whites coach.
A 6 year contract was madness and we are paying the price.
