"Overseas contributors include Simon Kuper the respected Anglo-Dutch writer".

shouldn't that be "Simon kuper the Anglo-Dutch writer of intellectual w**kery with tenuous football correlations..."
Perhaps, as when interviewed on the "Nine to Noon" show on National Radio on Tuesday, he predicted NZ to exit after the group phase (and a Brazil- Serbia Final!)
However, a report in the Christchurch Press this week has his collaborator on his latest book "Why England Lose," some economics professor, predicting NZ to make the second round. So, who do you believe? None of them is my verdict!!!

yeah,I suppose it depends on what kind of football writing spins your wheels, and Kuper most definitely doesn't spin mine!I can't stand writers like him who forever draw up historical, economic and cultural parallels that serve only to prove how "deep"and "intellectual" they are concerning football.Middle class clever clog twaddle...
Give me "The Glory Game" anytime...

Anyone pick up the latest FourFourTwo Australia New Zealand Edition: World Cup issue? Any good? I've spent way too much on World Cup related stuff though, might have to miss this one.

See my previous posting on it back a page. Is the same as the Australian edition- with a different cover (featuring Ryan & Ricki). You get two mags, plus the Panini Sticker Album...

"Football+ Superstars"  Souvenir Magazine, which is a local effort, is better for NZ coverage
(see my description on previous page). Has a great bonus All Whites poster/ match wall chart.
Available at the Warehouse, Paperplus, Rebel Sport or some service stations.

So......no biscuit tin?
Permalink Permalink

Jeez- times have changed haven't they? No, no biscuit tin as was produced in '82 seen anywhere...

But can get All Whites CAR FLAGS  at the Warehouse ($8).
1982: biscuit tins
2010: Car flags

Supporters should buy car flags in large numbers and then see how many you  see around your town- and honk and wind down your window to yell when you see one, or just drive around the main drag with flags hanging out making a lot of noise as they do in big football countries...

Maybe but they'd probably complain about the noise they make as you hit them, as they hand you a vuvuzela.

Whatever happened to wooden football rattles?  I remember seeing how to make them in a Blue Peter Annual (Peter Purves I think, not John Noakes).

Leggy might know seeing as he is more ancient than me by all accounts.

Really? Have had nothing but good things from Mighty Ape. Should email them, they are always really helpful (although never had to get stuff sent to Oz).

Love the next day delivery in NZ, especially when I get free shipping for spending $50.

Wasn't available at the bookdepository Traitor? My book was there but decided to go for the cheap softback version as it was available locally and discounted.

Good job too because it seems a little poorly edited and the guy is obviously very opinionated about things. (World Cup 2010 Superstars)

Strange though because he hints at but doesn't elaborate on scandals like the Zidane headbutt, the Terry infidelity, etc.  You end up having to google for what he is talking about (if you don't already know).

No, I tried there first as I always do. In fact I couldn't find it on any other site other than mightyape.
I wish I had just got a friend in Invers to send it over. Except transferring money is a bit of a pain in the butt tbh.

This is what Ahmad was referring to btw.
