World Cup squad is probably 3-4 months away from naming though.

Bell has been good for the WeeNix, Stroud I'v seen have 1 good game and 1 patchy game.

I hear NZF coach(es) planning a visit to Ole - for the first time since Edge has been there.

Rumour going around the school fields is two brothers are moving from MAGS to St Kents on Scholarship. NZ U17 possible players moving to schools where the coaches are = Alignment

If this starts happening I imagine there will be various legal threats and complaints.

I'm guessing though that NZF probably did not think of any potential conflicts of interest in having the National U17 coach also a head coach at a secondary school thats part of a rather competitive history etc.

Both NZ U17 coaches are also head coaches at schools competing in the top Auckland league, Zoro at St Kents and Danny at Sacred Heart.

Have heard rumours of players being pressured to go to the Auckland schools rather than the Phoenix Academy set-up.

What a joke.

so wait - on the day there are games in Auckland for the U20 World Cup all club football is postponed - but school football continues?  where is the alignment in that?

ok - but isn't all football off on that day in Auckland - kids included?  I might be wrong about that - I know it's all off on the opening day but that's a 1pm kick off for NZ vs Ukraine.

If all kids football is off for the final then I see no reason why schools should continue to play - AFF supply the referee's so it should be easy enough to pull this resource if the schools don't agree.

Opening day is also Queens Birthday weekend and as I recall there is never any school football on long weekends.

Just confirms the lack of alignment between schools football and NZF / AFF & NFF

Just heard in past 24 hours that along with Danny Hay not attending upcoming U-17 Tour to Doha, AWs assistant Alex Armstrong has now pulled out...leaving just Chris Zoro as only "technical" coach traveling.

Armstrong has however been replaced by a 17 year old student from Sacred Heart as "analyst" for the tour.

How on earth can NZF approve someone with no previous international coaching/analysis experience, someone 17 years of age (same age as many of the players) and also someone who attends the same school as the players?

Can't see how this is a "better fit" and "alignment"....?

On the plus side, if he's 17 and has less than 6 months experience you can get away with paying him $11.80 an hour, which is a few bucks cheaper than adult minimum wage.

What an absolute joke!

Do NZF honestly not know of anyone else? I know 2 football video analysts in Chch alone that would jump at the opportunity, both not children as well!

A 17 year old boy. Could we be anymore of a joke?

Analyst? Hmm.... I suspect he'll be given a numbers brief (poor sod)

1. Count total passes made

2 Count passes to team mate

3. Count passes to oppo

4 Count tackles

5. Count successful tackles

6. Count failed tackles

7. Count scoring opps successful

8 Count failed scoring attempts

9 Count fouls made

10 Count fouls conceded

10. Count ...... (add here)

To further save costs, they could combine the analyst role with that of the team therapist and make him the official U17s analrapist. Just like Tobias Funke

Don't know about the coach but scorer of two of Grammar's 7 goals were scored by Patrick Hay (no relation), winner of this year's WOMAD keepy-uppy comp with a score of 5160 (five thousand one hundred and sixty) times.

I woz there and I missed it!

Full size. When he reached 3000 a mate put a hat down. He made $50 by the finish. Pro beginnings ... Was at Francis Douglas in NP and won football scholarship to Auckland Grammar (one of 3 on offer I think)

NB if you google Patrick Hay NZ football you'll find the link in stuff: Taranaki News. - teen juggles ball 5160 times in keepy-uppy  With photograph.
