Whilst I don't care where players come from... I am a little surprised to see no one from Nelson made it given their recent success and Hay saying himself we may have missed a couple players.
I really hope we dont have another situation where the cost of being involved prohibits a player. A number of years ago with the U17 girls team under that awful awful coach Dave Edmondson 1 girls from Dunedin had to pull out because she couldnt afford to come up for training camps. There was a long weekend where the U17 girls played in the national league competition and there were 2 games scheduled. The girls parents who were on a low income scraped enough money together to come up to watch their daughter play. Edmondson knew this and somehow that long weekend their daughter was the only one out of the entire squad who didnt get game time.
