Goalkeeper Michael Woud from Sunderland has been superb.  The goals he shipped vs France were astonishing finishes and he pulled off a number of good stops during the game.

I'm not sure about this. Although I've only watched the France match.

Woud had a bunch of shots fired straight at him which he knocked away okay. And he saved one with his shin after diving the wrong way.

So that looked okay. But wasn't especially impressive.

On the flip side. The first goal he got two hands to but still palmed into his side netting. The second goal he got chipped from the sideline.

Are we perhaps falling into the trap of mixing up "had lots of work to do" with "made some fine saves"?

Has he been especially good in other matches?

I thought he was easily the best player on the pitch for us against Vietnam, and one of the only reasons we got that vital point against them.

Less influential against Honduras, because the rest of the team were allowed to play football.

I'm in the "he's done what was asked of him without being spectacular" camp.

The swerve on the first goal was impressive, and just pure bad luck for the second.

I've watched a few of the games, and in most, the keepers have made an error of some kind. But I  can't recall one by Woud. He's very good in the air, positionally seems to know his posts and his distribution is fine. Looks to be one of the better keepers on display.

Missed all of the France game and most of the other two, but having just read the last 149 posts of this thread, I am PUMPED for the usa game.

Really exciting to hear about how some of our youngsters have looked, particularly the Nix ones.

Billingsley in for Singh! Do me a favour, not sure I have the enthusiasm to stay up for this if that points to the style we are going to play

That was some grit and determination by Rogerson in his own half there.

super frustrating because I believe if singh was on the field we'd have a decent shot. His game free's up alot more space for Rogerson and Bevan.

We haven't been as direct as we were against vietnam, but certainly not too fluid.

A couple of times already our last defender has gone in hard for a tackle when he didn't need to and nearly given them a one on one.

Game has some intensity to it, and at least we seem to be playing with some passion which is good to see.

Who was the player who messed up the clearance for their goal? Billingsley I think?

USA not even that good but we just can't do anything  with the ball on the odd occasion we get it.

Our friend Moses with the massive air swing on the corner. What does he do that's useful?

Encouraged by our progress, tonight is the first game I've watched of the tournament. Underwhelmed to say the least.

I'm not too familiar with James McGarry but I take it from what I've seen tonight he's not a left back?

McGarry is probably our best on the ball. looks to keep it rather than hoof... not sure what you are watching?

Seen him fall on his arse trying to defend, pass the ball out a couple of times and lose his marker more times than I seen him pick up. Is he a natural defender (serious question)?

He's got a great left foot but surprisingly one footed, from what I've seen this tournament. Has he shown more two footedness when he's playing in the middle.

I think we were okay; no better or worse than I expected. USA is always a very good team at age group tourns and we are still in the game. We would need to improve and get some luck to get a result, but you never know.

My god that was painful to watch. I'm not sure if we have just chosen not to use the midfield or if we just don't have one? Is Moses Dyer an actual football player or what's the deal there? I'm not sure if I'm being punked? McGarry is usually class but that was a poor half from him. Big changes needed in the second half, see what Bazeley can come up with

We've got no midfield this week. Defence doing well (because it has to) and unlucky with that goal. Did it take a deflection off one of us or one of them? I think Woud had it covered otherwise. USA nowhere near the same league as France.

team balance wrong. we're playing 423 with bell and dyer in the mid. Rogerson not a mid. Won't happen but Singh on for dyer with bell and Jimmy or mccowatt in the midfield. Play players in their positions.

Pretty sure he is the one who messed up a clearance that lead to their goal.

Siac I think that was Dyer. Apart from being the lucky recipient of a couple of wayward passes everything else he's done has turned to shark. I hope Anthony is watching (Moses specifically)

We're giving it away heaps. I  don't understand why Singh isn't on given how he entered before. He was a real threat.
