Oh goody, another Auckland City stupid.  Honestly, come back happyted, at least you have a basic grasp of the english language (among other positive points).

MD a few points:

1. Use of 'u' constitutes Text Speak... that contravenes forum rules.  Desist...

2. Also - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuation

3. Do you have any idea what a Dojo is ?  Are you reallys saying that Kiwitea St. is Menapi's place ?

Thanks.

MenapisDojo is the bastard son of happyted and Uli Stieleke - the result of a drunken late night liason in the Kiwitea St toilets.

Unfortunately he seems to be suffering from symptoms you commonly find with in-breeding.

A Dojo is a path or a place in a temple.  Yes a Karate school could be 'held' there, but so could prayers.  It is a place, not the actual training or school.

Still, thanks for playing...

Sad little Aussie team with support Auckland football has never delivered to the game despite three times the population... oh, and our NZFC finalists...where were Auckland in early May this year ?

Sad bunch - That would be the forums with close to 5000 members, vs Auckland City's with 19, and half of them are trolls from here.

Run home and come back when you have a clue at the moment your weak attempts to re-broadcast the HappyTed, Loz and Uli party line really is just embarrassing them.  They fight it with more wit, more eloquence and more persuasion.

As Term says, you are a sad clone of the once great Auckland fighters.

Actually, Uli Stekiele, despite having differing views on a number of matters (to which he is entitles) is actually a valuable, contributing member of this forum.

Here's a thought ManapisDojo, you head back to your forum and play nicely with both your mates and we'll enjoy ourselves down here.  And while we do something positive for NZ football, you can whinge and moan about what you haven't got, and how everything is unfair, and how life would be so good if the Phoenix went away

The whole naming yourself after a Waitakere United player gave that impression. But the point still stands - Auckland City also can only dream of the off-field success that Toronto FC, and indeed the Phoenix, has.

Anyways, that's all the effort I'm going to waste on you, can we try to keep this thread on topic?

Isn't that a bit like saying Arsenal can only dream of the on field success of Corinthians? The scale is completely different. You're comparing an A-League/Prem team to a NZFC/non-league team. It doesn't make sense.

I've half followed the discussion and I must admit I really don't understand the problem. The Phoenix represent Wellington in the A-League. And as the only NZ team in the A-League, they currenly hold the position of also representing NZ by default - something that will hopefully change eventually.

And as for the on-field success measure, it's not something you can measure after such a short span of time. We've only had one season!

No its nothing like Arsenal v Corinthians
there both english clubs playing in a english league unlike
those clowns from wellington who dont represent anyone
because no one wants them Asia dont and neither Oceania and most of NZ as well outside of Wellington and also Arsenal and Coriinthians dont embarrass the game in there country like wellington do with there wonderfully successful last place finish

Yawn,

Your punctuation is worse than mine.

The FFA/A-league wants a NZ team and they got a NZ team. The A-league licence was given to NZF (a national association) and this is sub-let to the Wellington Phoenix Football Club (a NZ club). The relationship is very regulated.

Unlike the New Zealand Knight in Auckland, the licence was given straight to that Auckland Club with no regulative interaction with the NZS (precursor to NZF). So to an extent the NZ knights club could have been classified as Australian club but there is no way that can be extend to the Phoenix club by regulation control. The relationship is much more clearer.

No one in Australia are claiming that the Wellington Phoenix FC as one of theirs. Yet the majority of the people on this forum are in total agreement with the FFA, NZF and Wellington Phoenix that WPFC is in fact a NZ club and not an Australia team. The administrations of WP, NZF and FFA as well as AFC and OFC says that they are a NZ team that plays in the A-league. The A-league is also clearly classified as an international league (as well as an AFC competition) because of Phoenix club is playing in it.

The Phoenix is an Oceania team in an Asia league which is why AFC reject any possible inclusion in future ACL should they win the A-league. The FFA argument to the AFC was that if the Phoenix won the A-league, that they should qualify for ACL because they won an Asia league competition despite being an Oceania team.

OFC has no problems having the Phoenix as a future participant of the O-league. FIFA ruled that Phoenix cannot represent OFC because they have not won an Oceania competition. So by using that reference alone, This implies that AFC may have to relook at their policies of the Phoenix as possible participant in the ACL if they are to win it despite being a OFC club in an AFC competition.

This all really comes down to FIFA decision as to where the phoenix can participant in which champion competition path to reach CWC. This path however does not define whether Phoenix is an Australian club or a NZ club, it merely reinforces the competition that they represents.

So if I have a very good guess, FIFA will say that ACL has to be the path for Phoenix and not the O-league simply because they are a participant in the Australian competition to qualify and cannot qualify for O-league.

Ok right, if you don't understand that. Then you really have no idea of what you are talking about.

Now lets get back to the topic of this thread.

I say this, Wellington Phoenix is not a problem, far for it. They are if any thing a fantastic example of a successful NZ club that is going to start their 2nd season. Success that is professionally managed. Far better than what Football Kingz and New Zealand Knights done in the Australian football leagues and far better than any of our National Club League clubs or NZFC clubs had achieved for NZ (besides winning O=league and actual CWC representation - which WPFC are not able to get the chance to) . . . . and they did this from the bottom of the Australian A-league table.

You be silly to mock this situation.AllWhitebelievr2008-07-09 00:25:47

Um...okay... I hate to be the one to point this out... it's a bit awkward you see... you are aware that is fiction aren't you ?  America's view of what Japanese culture is (or was) ?

[QUOTE=MenapisDojo]... and most of NZ as well outside of Wellington

That is almost as laughable as your Karate Kid line.

This forum has more Phoenix supporters in Auckland than the Auckland City forum has City supporters.  You, and about half a dozen others seem to think you speak for the whole of New Zealand when you quite blatantly don't.

The Phoenix exists in no small part thanks to effort from an Auckland City supporter, plenty of the Auckland City fan base post on here, but only about 3 of you voice the 'oh my god, all of New Zealand hates you' line.

As I say, laughable.  You really should try talking to some people in the wider football community, you might be surprised to find that Phil's views aren't the gospel on NZ football.

By Godfathers, this is churlish tripe!

I thought we were here for football discussion, not character assassinating!

Senor Dojo, the Arsenal and Corinthians teams referred to are located in entirely different continents. The Gooners hail from Blighty, of course, while Corinthians hail from Brazil.

As for Wellington Phoenix, they are a unique case in that they've a leg in both camps, Asia and Oceania. Their situation wasn't envisaged when the Champions League competitions were started in both Confederations, because when these competitions commenced, they weren't even in existence.

Now that they are, the powers that be need to sit down and sort out how best to incorporate the club into the Champions League set-up in this area of the world, in light of the challenges Sepp Blatter has presented Oceania to get up to speed on the world stage.

What may well prove the catalyst for progress on this issue at a hierarchical level is if Wellington secures a top-four finish in their upcoming A-League campaign. Our West Island brethren will be spitting tacks if one of "their" slots is taken up by a team from this side of the Tasman, and the call for action will be stronger than ever as a result.

It's not hard to see that, at present, there appears to be a lot of procrastination surrounding this issue, rather than proactivity. Plenty of hoping that the situation never materialises, rather than sorting something out in preparation for its eventuality, and making this known in anticipation of same.

This is all common sense stuff, I'm sure you'll agree - it's certainly not rocket science! Yet why is there so much inaction on the issue, and a seeming reluctance by those who need to to take responsibility and resolve things from the outset, once and for all?

Cheers,

JR

Clowns? Embarrass? Unwanted out of Wellington? You are making yourself look rather silly. If you take a sensible approach, I'm sure an interesting discussion could take place. I spend a lot of my working week in Auckland and the football fans I encounter are supportive and envious. I have yet to encounter any dislike. I suspect that you don't actually believe what you're saying and that you're actually on a wind up. Otherwise the implication is that Manawatu were an embarrassment to NZ for finishing bottom of the NZFC in 2004/05. The other implication is that you only support a winning team and would abandon, say, Waitakere if they finished bottom one year. As I say, no football supporter would really feel that way, so I believe you're just having a laugh. Why would you even be on this forum otherwise?

Hey MenapisDojo,

Do you feel a little bit dirty every time you have to log on here just so that you can find an audience for your views? After all, it must get a little boring and lonely rattling around in the ACFC forum with cousin Ted and cousin Uli.

AWB, your street cred (in my eyes at least) just went up tenfold.
I'm speaking hypothetically here, its not like I know what really goes on at those sorts of places, but just imagine this...
When I first went to a meeting I had to get up in front of everyone and say "Hi, I'm Derek and I'm an .........."
And you've just done that stage AWB. (All White Believer, not Average White Band). You've come through it, you've moved to the other side. So right now, we are all standing on our feet, applauding you and saying, "Hey, Big Guy, admitting it is half the battle".

I've always said that if it's done properly the crowds will come.
The reason the Knights were such an abject failure was that they were managed by imbeciles. Example? Appointing Alan Yates as Marketing manager. Now anyone who knows Yatesy will know his heart's in the right place, but Marketing Manager?!? Give me a break.
People are seeing the professionalism at the Nix and getting behind them en masse, instead of  a few hundred traipsing along becaiuse they feel a sense of duty to. And as s result of all this the Nix are an outstanding success thus far, with a whole lot more to come.
