I'd rather Oceania join Asia and split Asia into West and East for qualifiers before a top six fight it out for the top four spots

We'd be fucked, no way would we top Japan, South Korea or Australia in an East Asia group. If Oceania joined Asia the qualification structure would be hardly changed anyway. My bet would be that seeing as the first round of Asian qualifying consists of all the Asian minnows playing their minnow neighbours, theyd find a way to incorporate all the current Oceania members into this stage by playing each other, with the top 1 or 2 sides progressing directly to round 2.
The Caribbean Cup still lives on in concacaf so theyd probably continue to use the Oceania Cup to give these sides games, or even use this as a qualification path as we do now
No way would AFC split in half all because a bunch of Oceanian nobodies become merged

He said top four soooo Japan, South Korea, Australia ahead of us yes but we'd be 4th. No way China, North Korea, Thailand etc would get past us

You would probably find, hopefully, that Asia would get 5 automatic spots with the final spot being decided under the existing structure at round 5. That would be one good selling point to AFC if OFC wanted to merge - hopefully going from 4.5 to 5. Unless UEFA wanted to be dicks and put pressure on FIFA to create a play off with Asia

But anyway, I have no idea why you think a top 6 of East vs. West would include 4 from East, 2 from West. Especially when you look at the current 4th round of 10 nations, 7 of which are from the West Asian Region.

Also we havent beaten China since 1990, or Thailand since 1976. Never played DPR. All 3 would be as unpredictable as we are.
