they obviously missed his bump-slice comedy moment.

Fuck this stupid game

The guy says Paston kept us in the game. He only had one really crucial save from memory, and our defence certainly wasn`t sieve like.

makes it seem like we were saved by the goal keeper and dominated by slovakia...

Elliott and Weiss perhaps deserved to make that team.

Two. One tipped over the bar near the end of the first half (no, I don't think he could have caught that); one where he came off his line and dived at some Slovak's feet early in the second.

Goals conceded from retarded errors by Paston against Slovenia: 1
Goals conceded from retarded errors by Paston against Slovakia: 0

He's improving all the time! And now he has something to play for; any bullsh*t against Italy and Mossy will play the last game surely.

Ever since 14/11/2009, Mark Paston has been my pretend boyfriend and he will stay that way. I'm a keeper myself so I have sympathy with the pressures of the job, and how hard it is to get one's confidence back after it's shattered after one foolish error.

Plus - in the Italy game we simply have no choice so we should be sending Pasty all the positive vibes we can. If he ballses it up, then we can get Mossy in, but he is our only hope right now.

With all due respect Doloras, Paston has been sh*t for the last 3 games.

He lacks confidence, doesn't catch the ball at all these days, and seems to have a bad habit of deflecting the ball straight down instead of catching it cleanly.

He has had it relatively easy so far but will get a big wake up call Vs Italy.

Mind you, it will be his last game as Moss will play in the paraguay match (thankfully)

He had a very casual style, opting for the lean back with hands behind head, rather than the traditional lean forward with elbows on knees. He tried the cross legged technique once but later said it caused splinter issues in a post match interview.

Harsh.

Moss is still our number 1 and Ricki has come out and made that clear several times.

Three for me, and two for them.

Personally i don't think there is anything between them, neither of them would make just about any other World Cup squad but they are by a long way the best we have.

Both have had their moments for the All Whites. Paston was world class in the two legs against Bahrain. Moss had a brilliant Confed Cup, including a man of the match performance against Iraq.

I don't think there is much between them either, but Ricki obviously does, so we just have to trust he has seen more than enough to make a clear judgement on the matter.

Three for me, and two for them.

I did. Well, I did when the TV cameras cut to a shot of the subs bench.......

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

We will see just what Ricki thinks when the team for the 3rd game is announced. I dont think it is at all certain that Moss will play, and I cant recall him saying he is the No 1.

Of the 2 now, for all his dodgy moments, I would be happiest with Paston there. I thought Moss had a shocker season for Melbourne wheras Paston,  until he got injured, was good for us and has done ok.

So he wouldn't have shown much foot movement and never came off his line?  Hands down, poor positioning?

Paston at least has a run of gametime and experience competitively with the new ball.  Barring a shocker against Italy I'd not expect Moss to be fielded against Paraguay.  Even at the Phoenix Moss seemed to make flashy saves, whereas Paston has better control of his defense.

Pasty has lost some confidence, clear as day.
But I still think he's up to the job. That game would have boosted his confidence, a couple of errors but they didnt result in goals and that always makes you feel better (from a 'keepers point of view).
Moss would be rusty if he does come in for game 3. When was the last time he played a full competitive game? Training is good but it doesnt substitute for good hard game time.

Not much going on in the last match - they seemed to be putting him under a bit of pressure.

exactly, doesn't anyone remember the best clean sheet ever - 6-0 over Gold Coast United?

Sure he gave heart failure a few times, but have other keepers been perfect during the tournament?   I'm with Doloras, lets send him our positive vibes cause we got no one else for the Italy game.

oh and Well done Winston, you rocked my world!

The more I see and read about Winston, the more I am impressed by this young lad's level-headedness adn down-to-earth humility/attitude.

Latest item on Stuff:

Such a contrast to Rory.

I really, really, hope the lad goes on to bigger and greater things and is "managed" properly by NZF so that he doesn't become a victim of celebrity-ism (if that is a word).

That's awesome but I hope it's next to the Ian Curtis graffiti and not over it.

Winston Reid is pretty cool but he's no Ian Curtis (not until me makes a couple of great records and then tops himself anyway).
