You're wrong. The last one was earlier this year.

I stand corrected. The Oceania playoffs are in June 2016 and the Confederations Cup is in Russia in June 2017, the year before the World Cup. It's still what we should be targeting with a new coach and all the best young talent.

As an aside I notice that Ryan Nelsen has refused to comment on Herbert's claims he was largely responsible for the good performances at the 2010 WC. This silence speaks volumes. I understand that the best professional players in the AWs ranks don't have much respect for Herbert. If this is true then this could account for his constantly picking familiar old faces like Lochhead, Bertos and even Christie when clearly they're not up to the job. Brockie and Durante also give him familiar grateful faces. You have to wonder how much of the AW selection process is down to loyalty to Herbert and not playing ability? By my reckoning the AWs ran out at the Azteca with effectively 9 players.
