NZF will get an allocation. Am tying to find out who is best to contact there.

Classic Travel put something together for us for this but it didn't get any love.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Hi guys, I'm a New Zealander living in Guadalajara, Mexico. I'm not a huge football fan but I'm pretty keen to head to Mexico City for this game... if anyone's heading to the game then let me know as I'd love to sit with some fellow Kiwis.

I would obviously be making my own way to Mexico City, would be keen to meet up in the city & then head to the game... but if anyone could point me in the direction of some NZ fans thy may be attending it would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any supporter tours happening?

Yeah dude would be keen to meet up, especially if you can act as translator!  I'm just trying to make sure I can buy tickets to the game before sorting travel.

The supporters tour from classic travel is off unless Wayne gets more enquiries.  I've emailed the contact at nz football posted above and will post any info I get.

Really reckon a competitive game at the Azteca is a once in a lifetime chance for a football tragic. Mexico City sounds like a rad place too.

I went to Azteca a few months ago for the Liga MX semi-final & it was great experience, the crowd was in good spirits that day. I was thinking at the time how amazing it'd be there for a Mexico v US or top South American or European team when the crowd was a bit more on edge & fired up... & now we're playing there.

My espanol isn't the greatest so I will be of only a little help in that department but I do know my way around the city. I know a few people in Mexico City but they're not really football fans & will likely be working as it's a Thursday.

Mexico City is a rad place & obviously has a heap of tourist attractions. It's fairly easy to navigate as well as the metro is pretty comprehensive.

I guess you'll probably know more than me about ticketing info for NZ fans but for the Club Americas games at Azteca, you can get tickets through ticketmaster.com.mx (there's an English option on the website). I'll keep my eyes open for ticketing information over here & post on here once I have news.

Suggest you flick Wayne an email - having shopped around this market extensively since 2009 I can tell you with great confidence that Classic are the best (cheapest and most awesome).

They get us.

I'll be coming from ChCh for this one.

By sheer coincidence, I will be in Austin, Texas that week for the US Formula One race. Luckily, Mexico City is only a (direct) three-hour flight away! So I have no excuse not to go to the match...

Assuming the game is in Mexico City, I'll be flying in on Monday and heading back to Austin on Thursday after the game. I will then go to the Grand Prix before flying back to Wellington for the return leg - perfect!

Irrespective of the result, this is going to be an amazing experience!

I'm definitely going & I know of a couple of others too so if you want to meet up before the game then let us know... might be safer with a few of us. I'll be bussing into Mexico City the day before the game (I think it's been scheduled for 2:00pm Wednesday 13th but I'm not sure on that one).

Still no word on ticketing info? or even a confirmed kick-off time/date?

Worst case scenario you guys get tickets from scalpers outside the stadium. There will be lots of them. You could probably also get tickets through mexico's ticketmaster site. If you get tickets in the general stands, no matter where your ticket allocates you, you could still make your way to the visitors section. I doubt that there will be many kiwis in the stands, so youll be able to be seated together if you wish.

If anyone is going, here are the ticket details: http://www.ticketmaster.com.mx/mexico-v-nueva-zelanda-mexico-distrito-federal-13-11-2013/event/14004B498085438D?artistid=856033&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=11

Tickets go on general sale this Friday (NZ time).

The visitors section is Cabecera Sur (Visitante) in the General Sur seats, possibly around the areas marked 20, 21, 22 ... tickets only $112 pesos (about NZ $10) in that area. I imagine there won't be too many New Zealand fans there though.

Thanks Beez!  I was trying to figure that out from the ticketmaster site.  Do you think its better to buy seats in that section or anywhere would be sweet?

Cool, so you're definitely coming?

I'm not too sure about where to sit but hopefully you'll be able to find a few other Kiwis in the visitors area so it is probably the best bet & it would be nice to at least have a small posse of supporters together. Mexico City has a huge population so there must be at least a few Kiwis living there who you'd hope would come to this match as it's pretty rare that a NZ sporting side will come to Mexico for anything.

I'll probably head down to Tickermaster later this week & see what they say, but I'm in Guadalajara so it's unlikely they'll be able to give me any advice for Azteca. I think I'll opt for the visitors section... & hopefully NZ Footbal provides some info before then.

cheers dude.  yeah i'm gonna sit in the away section.  amazed at how cheap the tickets are but looking at the azteca plan on ticketmaster i may need a sherpa to help me get to my seat and oxygen tanks to survive the game.

Found accomodation in Navarte, Distrito Federal - any ideas on this area?

Really appreciate your input Beez and will happily shout you some cerevezas if this all comes together.  Imagine if we nick a win!?

Glad I could offer some assistance (hopefully it's correct). I have no idea where Navarte is but as long as you're near a metro station then the city is pretty easy to get around & really cheap.

Are you coming alone? I've heard from a couple of guys (one in the US & his friend who lives in Mexico I think) that are heading to the game, & they said another NZer in Mexico City also got in touch with them & seems interested in meeting up in the city somewhere before the game.

This thru from NZ Football:

Thanks for your interest in purchasing tickets for game one of the home and away qualifying matches against Mexico in Mexico City.

To purchase your tickets for “Cabecera General Sur”,where the NZ fans will all be sitting together, please send an email with your ticket request to Martin Tlaseca at mtlaseca@ticketmaster.com.mx.

Please include in your email a note that you have been referred to them by Mary Carmen Santiago from the Mexican FA.  This will ensure you are issued tickets in the correct area.
