Outside World Cup qualifiers, Hay will actually have very few windows now, before the March 2022 Intercontinental playoffs - to tinker, and bed in his top side. He will also have to do without the valuable Confeds Cup as prep.

I doubt many if any domestic players will get a look in over the next few years. Hudson and even Schmid did plenty enough experimenting.

Sounds like from some of AV's comments, that most of the first choice players, will be expected to make themselves available for friendlies in these windows up to March 2022. With likely case by case exceptions of the 'elite' like Wood, Reid and Thomas - who will have more flexibility esp if their clubs are trying to make Europe (PSV) or avoid possible relegation (Hammers, Burnley).

Any international coach gets very limited time with his players, esp the AWs boss. Therefore don't see Hay deviating much now from the guys picked last November. Some future INS will likely be Wynne, Billingsley (RB), Lewis, Musa etc.

Anyone new who picks up a pro contract overseas, could jump onto that list - anyone who stays in the Handy Prem at long odds.

Of course the upcoming Nations Cup is yes one time, when someone like Brock Messenger could get a look in. But I'm not sure if shining against the Island nations in Auckland in June, will tell Hay much about a player.
