Very pretty Spanish colonial town Colonia, that often gets swamped by Argentinians seeking a muy romantic weekend escape.
It’s only about a 3 hour ferry trip from downtown Buenos Aires and its 10 million odd inhabitants.
Great little country Uruguay, though expensive by South American standards. Get into the asado (meat) and mate (an acquired taste).
