the goals were gifts. TW to nervous ? put pressure on themselves. Reminisant to Waitak game
2017 OCL final | TeeDubs vs ACFC | 2nd leg - Sun 7 May | 1:00pm | Davey F
Pretty one sided unfortunately so far.
AC pressing too disruptive.
Half time highlights essentially a Scott Basalaj showreel. What a performance from him!
Fudge, 3 nil now. For fudges sake.
Thought TW were awful today. Second best throughout and never at the races. One crumb of comfort for me is that Scott Basalaj was absolutely superb! Without him it would've been far worse. Thought the defence was left far too exposed by the midfield today and Auckland got far too much joy down either flank in the first half.
Is 3-0 a death sentence? Not necessarily. It's been done before but it will require a vastly improved performance on today's showing. Conceding the third so late was a real killer but, given the number of chances Auckland wasted, 3-0 is actually a reasonable result.
But it's only "half-time". Still a lot of football to be played so I'll look at the glass half full for now. :)
Basalaj for Nix?
Maybe if we get the Auckland city coach in the Nix. Could have been 8
Basalaj with a really excellent performance - Could have been 6 or 7.
As much as it pains me to say it, ACFC played TW off the park, I don't recall a concerted effort from TW's on the Auckland goal, which is probably the biggest disappointment. They were second best in the 50/50 contests and some poor decision making made it all to easy for Auckland.
More worryingly for TeeDubs, Auckland looked like they could've gone up a gear or two as well.
Still 90 minutes left to make amends, but it'll take a far more concerted effort to get back in contention.

you just keep on selling out your tickets for your t dubs game

yawn
Ramon has been effectively running a professional setup in an amateur environment for the last 7 years (yes we all know they get expenses but that's nothing new and not the point) Many of the players have day jobs and are training 5 times a week on top of that.
Imagine what he could do with a bunch of players whose only job was to train and play football

I would love to have a manager who made the most of the import rules

Just out of curiosity, if Auckland City hypothetically decided they wanted to go full-time from next season, say, is there anything in the rules of the SS Prem that says they can't? Just interested to know.

But you can have only 3 NZ eligible players if you are the Parasites

TW Recipe for Sunday 4 nil or 6 - 1 is the minimum. Big Game, sounds like the park will be flooded in "Blue"

Also if the NZFC professionalised the FFA would flick the Nix out of the A League, wouldn't they?
There has been a bit of chat on this forum (can't recall which thread) recently about Ramon not having a plan B. Think we saw a very well thought out and executed plan B on Sunday.

This is extremely rich given Auckland regularly start with only 3 NZ players.

neither side have any Akld or Wgtn players so meh. Both teams are playing by the rules in order to win the thing. Just like the Nix when they sign Aussie youngsters.

Weirdly his Plan B was letting Team Wellington have possession and put some pressure on the centre backs - which was pretty much Team Wellington's strategy in the Prem Final.

Think it shows it's easier for a team grounded in maintaining possession to adapt than it is one for grounded in counter-attacking - and that most of the games where Team Welly got to dominate possession were against less solid teams than Auckland City.
how good was that third goal?!
how good was that third goal?!
As someone who will take a goal created by a good pass over a long range boomer any day, it was one of the best I've seen all summer.

Thanks Yomcat - I just emailed him.
Really hope I don't miss out. Gutted as I requested a ticket on the first day and thought I was sorted.
Cheers
Life (and football) is funny sometimes. The only other time I attended a Champions League final, I rocked up on the day, bought a ticket a few hours early, and was in a crowd of 42,000. Now I'm pre-booking for tickets to a game that will have a crowd of about 1,000

SUNday SUNday
How have the ticket sales been going? If I rock up on match day will I still be able to get in?

judging by the traffic on this thread I wouldn't worry to much
