After seeing bits of this game and following the CWC finals in general, I am thinking we should NOT have another A-League franchise in Auckland. I would rather leave Auckland City where it is and let them have another crack at the top title next time.  This surreal pleasure beats the humdream of A-League anytime.

What price the added bonus of hearing the WSW whining at their lost chances there, blaming the weather, the ref, etc.

Proud of you ACFC.

I know it's a big ask but hope you can get up for 3/4 playoff

Honestly was the best i've seen them play so far. They matched them the whole game. San Lorenzo just finished better.

Awesome effort City, a guy at work had $20 on the draw at the end of 90mins, so he is happy and he is not a football supporter.  No shame in bowing out like that, you gave it your all.  Awesome goal from Berlanga.

You would expect some of the ACFC players to get a pro contract from this?

Am I right in thinking that this is the best showing any kiwi team has had against any South American team (club or nation) in a competitve match, not a friendly?

Well played Auckland....you did NZ football proud.

Watching the way they played its hard to reconcile that here was an ASB team playing in the semi final of the FIFA Club World Champs against the South American champion. And they were outplaying them for large parts of the game. They played smart football.....they kept the ball on the deck for most of the game and troubled the South Americans.  Really really proud to watch that performance.

As for the players...Tim Payne is a class midfielder. He should be playing pro football. Irving looks like a class defender.....worth an import slot at the Nix next year?(Siggy and Dura are getting on)

Finally...big big pat on the back for Ramon. Any mug can coach a team of stars....Ramon took a bunch of part timers to the Club World Semis. I can see him getting a job at a pro club somewhere

Phoenix Feeder FC have done themselves very proud.

Superb achievement by all involved at ACFC.

Hoping this thread doesn't degenerate into some points scoring exercise/pissing contest now. Credit where it's due, they've united the football community to support them and done themselves proud.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

But it will only be a matter of time. Nothing surer

Female teams have done well against South American teams in the past, the Ferns beat Brazil recently in a competitive competition.

Awesome to see Browne and Burfoot come on, two with big futures and while they are known for fielding a lot of imports ACFC do a good job putting young Kiwis in a strong football environment.

Totally putting cheeky Tenner on City to come 3rd, odds must be nice.

Amazing effort, stoked to be a fan of NZ football.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Watching the replay ACFC were a bit too honest during that first goal. Couldve taken a spill in the box and hoped that keeper was shown red. Ben Williams was the ref after all ...

Really hope that Auckland City vs Wellington Phoenix game does go ahead, purely because it will celebrate the success of Auckland City's achievements even more.

What a journey, and some big things should come for their coach and some of the players. For a New Zealand team to reach that stage is incredible, let alone look comfortable at that level.

Tim Payne shouldn't be written off just yet, but how good was the defence all tournament. Ivan Vicelich, the Godfather, is an absolute legend.

New Zealand 0-0 Paraguay.

Now that was a horrible game. Slovakia and Italy were great, but against Paraguay we just kind of petered out and didn't compete. (Some great Paston saves though)

Great work ACFC, we should all be proud of them. I'm going to another thread now, but I think this result and run gives us good grounds to seriously consider a 2nd A League franchise in NZ.

A healthy injection of $2.5 million might go a long way to keeping Roman at Auckland City.

Think he likes being on the world stage as much as the $$

Anyone know where ACFC will be building their training facility? Ivan Vuksich said on the news this morning that they will be using some of the winnings to pay off debt and to build a training facility.

I heard it's mostly council funded and it's at the park under bond street. Nixon Park?
