on the "how will this work?" question.... national/academy sides in football and other sports in NZ regularly relocate players to places like auckland, so that concept is not new. as a player, its a choice you need to make if you're lucky enough to be considered, you make the decision based on whats best for you under the circumstances. while its probably best to work reasonably closely with academies like the nix one, nzf need to look after what they control rather than to allow outside organisations to have too much of an effect on them. once again, a nix academy player can make a choice - if they are good enough they could play at the nix and still get selected for the wc, there simply aren't enough players in that category to stop nzf from running this new concept. a place to play will be easy enough to find i' m sure. supporters? who knows, most clubs have bugger all anyway. I'll go and watch them play my team because i support my team and make an extra effort because of the young talent in the side, much in the same way as i've done in previous years when going to watch auckland city and their foreigners.
