It's interesting to read Simon Plumbs article in the Stuff website saying that City were well in it for the 1st half an hour.... interesting because I don't consider defending your ass off and not getting over half to be 'well in it'....
Credit to Auckland because they showed they were no bunnies and they had parity for a good chunk of the 2nd half. That opening half they really struggled with it and when the J League side went 2 up, they did sit off a bit and that allowed ACFC back into the game. I do think it was evident in the 1st 5 mins that the J League side were the better team. The pace of the game and the speed of which they rushed the back 4 is something that no other side will do to ACFC in the Premiership but it should show the other 7 teams that if you force the pressure, that the some of the 1st touches will let players down.
Greyhound I agree that Feneridis was out of his depth but he is one of those guys that your other supporters swear he is A League material. He is the invisible man mostly. I thought Ian Hogg showed a bit about himself and would have to be the fastest footballer in the country. Maybe got caught out of position early a couple of times early on but I think he should be counting the days until he is playing elsewhere. Pritchett showed he can't defend nor has a good 1st touch (we agreed on the prior) Spoonley was caught out positionally and getting beaten near post is a cardinal sin. Exposito was awful and I always come back to that word quality which get bandied around about him. Good for our level but thats all. Berlanga is the one that reminds me of Ryan Nelsen. Doesn't do too much, nothing flashy but just a nod here, a touch there keeps it stable and rock solid. He is the one you need to keep.
They needed an ounce of luck (which they didn't get on the 1st goal and the Mulligan FK) and to adjust quicker to the pace of the game early on. It wasn't to be but they did not disgrace themselves.
