I think unlike before Auckland is now mature enough as a population and soccer community to handle an A league team. It does take an investor/driver and I would prefer that this was not Gareth in any way shape or form. One because I cant stand the moron but more importantly I don't think his focus and money should be taken of the Phoenix.
I still however think it will only happen once the pheonix up the ante, create some hysteria and win the league. We won't have a chance whilst we are 9th and with crowds at 7k. If we did win the league crowds in wellington for play off games will be huge and potentially massive in the one or two games in Auckland.
The ausis will want to get on the money bandwagon and also at the same time dilute the strength of the Phoenix by sharing the NZ talent around.
Plus moving into asia wouldn't hurt our chances as well.
