Canterbury will disappointed not to take the 3 points after leading twice. Tasman though battled well and certainly did not look out of place ath this level. Their defence coped reasonably well with Canterbury and they largely held their own in the midfield. A good game overall.
Some thoughts:
- Messenger is not a centre-back, he's just a bit too rash to play there.
- Wisenfarth (#7) had some classy touches but his passing and decision making was absolutely shocking. Also missed a guilt-edged opportunity in the 2nd half.
- Canterbury were very poor in transition. Only towards the end when De Jong and Clapham found space in the pockets did they look more threatening.
- Hoyle received virtually no ball but held the ball up well mostly.
- Spain was practically anonymous. He's wasted outwide.
- The Canterbury fullbacks need to offer more width.
- If Canterbury play like that every week they won't make the top 4 so plenty to work on.
Also attendance 700+ which is pretty impressive. Hopefully they can keep that up throughout the summer.
