Canterbury Utd is confirmed to appear in only two of the 18 televised Handa Premiership regular season games (NB four games to have TV coverage confirmed late in the season due to OFC Champions League schudule not being known).
One home game, one away. Piss poor. I'm not worried about the home games as I'll go to them, but would like the chance to see the Dragons play away on TV sometimes. Each club pays at least $25,000 per year for the league to be broadcast on Sky. Yet, there's a huge variation in how many games each side gets on TV.
From an insider who works for Sky TV:
"NZF give SKY the list of games they want shown each round.
I'm pretty sure there is OB vans based in the south island as they are extremely expensive to get over on the ferry so they stay down there and do a bunch of sports... racing, cricket, rugby, rugby league etc. So I don't understand the collective snubbing of the south island."

Guts to Canty, made the semis last time but don't get a telly game til after New Years. Gonna see lots of the Waitaks with 4 of 6 telly games at home. No love for Southern. Hope their homer vs WeeNix in Feb gets picked up. Also HWs get more TV games than they had wins last season

So far just one telly game broadcast from the South Island (where three teams play). Wonder how much thought went into the balance all this and how much of a say Sky had...
