By a Vote of 17 to 14, Apollon club wasn't expelled.
A few years later, the player banned for life, was reinstated despite protest from the referee association.
Two years later, the referee who was attacked, was selected to officiate at the Melbourne Olympics, including being linesman for the gold-medal match between USSR and Yugoslavia where he flaged for offside ruling out an equaliser for Yugoslavia. USSR winning 1-0.
