I just think anyone who proclaims themselves a "leader" ought to have their judgement checked for making that comment:
1. Surely you know you're going to get flack for it
2. Potentially burning bridges like that is totally stupid
3. Given that's his attitude on-air, then what is said off-air? Is appropriate of a leader of any organisation? How does that attitude rub off on other people in football?
