That might well be correct that Napier City Rovers board is a lot more savvy than HB United's especially after they lost points last year for a admin error. My criticism of Napier City Rovers was on the bases that a core group that run the club need to be cleaned out but as i said in the other post i don't want to go down that path as my main point was to come on here and try generate some ideas to help football in HB as all we do is criticise with no real solutions. Reading back over my posts I probably haven't replied in the correct manner to do this as i was taken back by the naievity of some of the comments on here. Any way I am glad we agree that the only way this can happen is if both parties can work together. Unfortunately both are as bad as each other in this department and I can't see it getting any better in the future.
That core group are running Napier City Rovers in a very professional and positive way with a happy environment within the club, so why on earth would they need to be cleaned out. And now they have a very limited link to HB United that shouldn't be any concern to you as you are obviously not linked to Napier so should focus on your own team. Most true football fans in NZ will tell you how much the history of clubs like Napier, Miramar, Central, North Shore (list goes on) mean to NZ football and how much the volunteers that helped build them from ground up have also done for the sport. As this is the case, HB United need Napier much more than Napier need HB United, so for HB to try and distance themselves from Napier is a completely naive move by their board. Like i've said before, they should be learning from these 'old school' people that have created such a sustainable club, and all of it being voluntarily for the love of the club/sport.
Maybe instead of jumping on here, get yourself to a HB United board meeting and throw some of your special ideas at them so they can help you achieve them.
