Officer Wigham will be a great asset for tech this season.  The goal he scored against Roslyn gave us all a wee glimpse of what he is capable of at a massive club like Tech.  This combined with his maszies against Varsity demonstrated what a class player he is!

Went along to watch Tech train last night and he was a notable absentee... Although Mr. Soccer was there and he is now that big time that not only are the players calling him Mr. Soccer (along with other names such as - the chosen one, Legend and the obvious one... the Kaiser) but Fridge has been told by Parkin himself that if he does not call him Mr. Soccer he will be forced to leave the club.  At the end of training I heard Fridge (I was standing in the distance so it did come over a little muffled) refer to him as Mr. Soccer when the Kaiser was stepping up to take a pen.

Footy Fever, in response to your comment about Campbell "Mr Soccer (Kaiser)" Parkin being to big for the SPL i think that he could be with his latest antics!

It can't have been all bad for Rickerby at Mosgiel with McGarry playing but he will certainly be better of with Tech and the likes of Andy Coburn.   Tech will need to make sure they compliment the likes of McKenzie and Rickerby with unselfish "team" players.  A bit worrying if Parkin is getting to big for the game at centre back especially if Scoular is playing alongside him.

What has happened to Nick Dale, his brothers were decent footballers but heard nothing about him or his plans??? Did see that Tech played him in the middle of the park on Saturday, is he replacing Jasper??

He didnt even star half the games last year so to say he is better than chippa a Chathum cup winning captain is a bit far..But i guess you are a Tech boy Perry so you will always have you favourites i guess

All the Dale boys are Gary Neville style right full-backs. Tech seem to have tried Nick in the middle of the park a few times though.

Wasn't Jasper a right back converted to centre midfield by Tech also?  Perhaps anyone going to Tech should tell the coaching staff that they are a right full-back!!

Craig Dale played up top in his last couple of seasons of SPL and had a pretty decent hit rate from memory - I'd describe him more like a white Louis Saha than a Gary Neville.

I don't reckon Rik (of Roslyn) will agree that he is a right back!

Soccerbot is right tho, the Dale boys are right backs including micro-chip.  Because they are all nuggety trout sniffers they do a decent job in the middle of the park.  Just ask J T, or perhaps he can't remember Nick tearing him a new 'a-hole' on the Cale??

Craig moonlighted as a striker at Southland.  Very decent.  Not sure he resembles Saha? Need someone with a nose.

Long time reader second time writer.

Good to see the passion of the SPL and Gardies banter still filters through here. Quite surprised there are a few memories of Southern Football that go further than "don't touch my pink gstring" McKenzie and "am I a russian crane driver or do I just have a sh*t touch" Dunbar. People like Dunbar aren't good enough to lace Luke Mcrais boots let alone JD/stink out the cook with your burning chest hair Dale, Troutsniffer or Micro Chip.

Southland Spirit haven't been the same since the dancing feet of John Herdman and the ankle sniper Karl Hawkes in midfield plus the the jack of all positions master of none Chippa Dale upfront chasing lost causes from Paul Potrac. Under lights at the stags stadium the best night of any Rosyln players life.

Caversham, Tech, Rosyln still all rubbish - go up north and play a decent game every week and see how you go. Not just a one off Chathum Cup tie at Tonga park on a postage stamp pitch.

Keep the rubbish banter going as it's quite amusing sometimes - Terry Parle you should apply to the ODT for Rab's job cause the accent didn't fool anyone who knew anything about football.

The Glass Man Richard Smith for the SPL Golden Boot. You heard it here first.

luke will be a good player for GI hope he has a good season finally breaking away from the sh*thole of dunedin football GB.  He would feel privelaged to have me lace his boots, but i would only lace a roslyn players boots as there the only pure club left in dunedin. Anyway southland spirit are rubbish and always have been. From memory playing under lights or even playing at rugby park fullstop disappeared some time ago

Apparently last night at an indoor soccer game at the Edgar Center Richard Smith, Campbell Parkin and Nick Dale were all approached by Grants Braes head coach after the game.  All three impressed that much that there was money offered directly afterward.  Smith who right away said he was not interested was a huge contrast to the other two who are both students and need some extra cash.

Rumor has it that Parkin and Dale will be playing for Braes this year - with both being offered between 100-125 a game respectively.  Good luck to you boys.

Eder, Parkin and Dale will form the nucleus of a strong Braes side

They better transfer soon as transfers have to be in before 5 pm tonight for the start of the SPL

Cant see Brae's getting that sort of money for the start of the season , they havent sold many pies at the club shop so far , in fact i dont even think its open yet

Maybe Fidge will be paying this out of his own pocket to see them go ??

Sorry for the long absence boys ive been a bit busy with "work".  I think that dale and parkin would be great players for a team like Braes.... Mr Soccer would run the show!

I just got of the phone to him and the club chairman has offered him the player coach role with Laidler looking after the player management side of things.  Mr Soccer is a phenomenon and if he begins a coach a team and manages to pass on even a smidgen of his ability to even one or two of the players then they will be a team not to be messed with.

This is actually accurate to an extent.  The only point of difference is that it wasn't the 'Head  Coach' and I quickly informed said coach that "we are all at tech" before "Micro-Chip" and "Scotchbrite Hair" had the chance to think about it.  Interestingly, Ross McKenzie was not approached despite pulling off 38 succesful Maradonna turns in only 28 minutes of football!

In other news Andy "Sledgehammer - I felt it touch me in a tackle" Coburn has torn his calf and is expected to miss three weeks minimum.  What was initially thought to be merely a case of cramping in the warm up (a la Craig "six goals at turf" Duncan) in fact turned out to be rather serious.

The Youth team will be pleased that "Sledge " will not get the opportunity to kick any of them this year!
