Went and watched the Waitakere Otago game and unfortunately, Otago were never in it despite the politelness of the report on NZFC.co.nz. Very disappointed and they played with a severe lack of ticker.

Far too often they gave the ball away, and then did it in dumb positions or kicked it 40 yards long into empty space which the Waitakere keeper was able to receive as a kind of sweeper and just distribute it at will. Waitakere broke the game down and played it like it was miniture posession grid games like you do at training all around the park. 3v3 here, 4v3 here etc and just never let Otago have it. Otago rarely marked Jake Butler in the middle of the pitch and it was like Otago were treating him like royalty giving him his own personal slab of field in the middle 3rd. Far too often Waitakere were able to just play 3-4 simple small passes out of anywhere and it turned into a Totori/Krishna running at goal. It really was disappointing and they missed Colin Falvey big time.

The only person that showed any gumption was Liam Little who made some good saves to stop it blowing out to more. I think Otago had maybe 1 threatening chance?? If Milicich was disappointed with that then he has some very high standards of football.
