Welcome, Since our first home game against Auckland we have had two away games stretched over four weeks due to the O league games and that great result by the ALL WHITES. The All Whites game was great for NZ football but also great to see Dunedin Techs own Andy Boyens getting some game time(and I tried to get ANDY to come back and play for us this year as a marque player which he was keen but the dates didnt suit, but Andy did say that he might be able to in the future which would be great.) Also good to see some NZFC players getting their chance as well and if selected our home fans might get to see some of them on display this week for Waitakere. Our resullts since our fine first round home games nil all draw with AUCKLAND have been an away loss to HAWKES BAY(1-2) and an away win to WELLINGTON (2-0) which was very pleasing. On to todays game I would like to welcome Neil and his men from the far north to our town, and knowing how good Waitak sides of the past have been I know this is not going to an easy task for us today on the field. For those fans that were at our first home game there will be a couple of new faces in the squad today as we have added Dan Ede (back from injury) Nathan Knox ( from Minnesota Thunder ), and also back from injury & suspension is Andy Coburn. We have lost Rhys Henderson from the squad (wasnt happy with trainings on a Monday after games). Everybody in the squad has had a taste of the NZFC and have held there own against some tough opposition which is very pleasing and makes team selection a tough job, which is the way I would prefer it to be. This week we will be without our regular captain Tim Horner who is away coaching the under 15s in Singapore which is a shame but he committed to them before we were up and running so we dont have a problem with this. All it does is open the door for someone else to step up just as Morgan Day did last week when he got another go last week as Robbie Deeley was left behind for discipline reasons. Robbie is now back training pushing to regain his starting place. As of this report we are also in talks with two or three others to be added to fill up our roster so things are moving along good. Before I finish my report I would like to take this change to thank Marc Chidley for his hard work as the clubs GM for the past five years, which i know has not been easy and I hope your new ventures all go well. To our supporters today I hope you enjoy the game and that we play as we have in the last few week. Having your support means plenty to the players. Malc
I would just like to clear up a couple of things...
The reason i left Otago United is NOT because i didn't want to train on a monday after the games and where he came up with that only Malcom would know. When i spoke to Malcom myself on the telephone and asked why he would write something like this in a game day program his answer was..and quote " Thats what the cavvy boys told me". Not bad from the head coach of a national league franchise sounds very professional.
Question. If Robbie Deeley was left at home for descipline reason's then why on game day did Malcom (Knowing Deels wasn't going because obviously being the coach he would of told him he's not in the traveling squad) only travel with two outfield subs and a keeper meaning if there was an injury after both subs were on the would have to play with 10?? Surely not?
