There would be at least 5 better centre mids than Attwood and Connor hasn't played right back since the SU season
Well to me there aren't 5 better centre mids in terms of all round quality. I'm not talking about guys that post selfies on mynewhairdo.com every 3 minutes. I'm talking about guys who are solid week in week out, that don't go missing in action and who provide leadership mixed with some defensive steel. You need balance in the middle of the park. Well that's what I think. And yeah Tom hasn't played at RB for Rosyln this season, but what's your point? That he's somehow forgotten how to?
JW please name the 5 better midfielders

I just thought it was team of the season and not team of the last three rounds. Fanchini,Day,Ridden, Hogan, Tom Connor, have all played CM for their clubs in the last three weeks and would start before Cam. Dont get me wrong, Attwoods a good CB

Fair enough. But a team is exactly that right? Not the best individuals necessarily. Is Franchini/Day the best combo? And would Franchini really work alongside Connor? I can't see that to be honest. Franchini/Attwood, Franchini/Ridden, Franchini/Hogan might be better.

Except Jackson will be at TW and Eder hates Fridge. So that leaves 2 decent players ZG?
Fair nuff. Was only throwing out players that I think could compete in comparison to the likes of Auckland, Waikato and Waitak in what I've seen or experienced - don't know much about the other players in the league but loads more I guess.
Match up's of the round- Ryder V Cotter. Youth V experience. Coldicott V Fitzpatrick. Aggression V Aggression . Jackson V Kindley. Class V enthusiasm.
Mosgiel will be hurting from round two. Who has got what it takes?
mine would have to be..

I wouldn't put Morgan Day near a team of the season, he's causing Mosgiel all sorts of problems
Everyone trying to come up with a "team of the season" is missing the big picture here. Wake up. Your team of the season is route 1. It doesn't matter who you put in your top XI Southern United, you'll still lose each game resoundingly with your incomprehensible style of play. Half of your team selections are based on your political connections affiliated with the teams, whilst the few indisputable players that you have to put in (but would rather not if given the opportunity) make up only 20% of players not from your preferred club. E.g. making a 70% team of Mosgiel (or any other club here for that matter) players your team of the year is obnoxious and deluded to say the least.

Put your team up them and let's have a good old laugh.

...probably just doing something else, like:
Hazard a guess, I think he's (or she...) doing the last one. Almost definitely.

Oh I see - put up a smart sass comment and then don't have the balls to back it up sort are they?

Southern would win more games by playing to their strengths and everyone buying into the style or play (defensively solid and getting the ball forward as quickly as possible) than trying to play aesthetically pleasing, patient passing football.
The reason numerous players tend to be picked from the better performing teams is the mentality and style of play these clubs have.

No I think the time spent away from computer (or phone) is genuine.
If they think naming a 'team of the season' is a good idea, I'm sure they will.
Don't worry about that match up JW I'm still suspended apparently. And we didn't go to the club rooms because it was out in south Dunedin following the game in north Dunedin which heaps of us walked to

Fair. Did they give you three games? Bit rough
Rhys Henderson should change his name from Truth NZ to washed up ugly little dwarf. Couple of Mosgiel front runners may teach him a thing or two. "Banter"
This isn't a forum for bullying people.

If my math is correct- 19 for, 3 against
Anyone know if he got taught a thing or two? Maybe the Mosgiel guys that were writing it should of been taking notes on how to defend when the played him instead. You don't win the league by conceeding 30 goals in a season unless you're in the EPL
To be fair - it's not all of us writing the stuff on here, but then again with anonymous profiles it can be anyone. As for conceding 30 goals in a season - you're right you can't win a league that way and it's farking embarrassing. Especially after conceding only 3 in the first round. In fact we've kept 6 clean sheets this season - there's just been 3 games where we've royally made a hash of it. But you have to push on or quit altogether. I think the individual repercussions of the last couple of games will have an effect on Southern United chances for some which is a shame.
I think people have a pretty clear idea of who it is with naming names. I think Mosgiel have a good young squad and with the right coaching and mentality they could go on in the next few years. As for SU- think they will struggle to get the players they want. Maybe Cotter, day and Franchini from mosgiel. Anyone else ZG?
Must be tough playing with lads like deluded Isaac
To put it into perspective, Tech lost to us in 1st round, Cavvy drew with us 1st round and they lost against Uni. Everyone can have off games. We've only lost 3 games (albeit badly). Isaac is a quality player and a top lad.

Here's some perspective, league form since start of May
Great conversation going on here! Mosgiel deserved the win. But where did you hear tech giving excuses @voiceofreason? Sounds like you don't have your facts straight! Haha Ross Coward you're playing this real well! Facebook has become a Mosgiel Afc home page. Don't showboat because it's a long season. One slip up is another teams gain! Rab smith is a Mosgiel member after that right up! "No Eder no Mosgiel" Exciting few weekends of football coming up...enjoy.
I feel like the Mosgiel lads should of listened to Lydia on this one.
Any of the Mosgiel lads on here care to explain how that happened on the weekend? See what happens when you win one game at the start of the year and think you're the shark. Unfortunately your ineptness has most likely put the title out of Techs reach.

Form in temporary, class is permanent.

I would have thought it was Cavvy, not Mosgiel, that have put the title out of Tech's reach.
Round 1 unbiased team reviews
Mosgiel AFC
Easily the most attractive team to watch this season. Their ability to play out from the back and create chances is second to none. Eder Francini already a strong candidate for player of the season if he keeps up his current form. Supported well by his team-mates and wide array of talent around him. Also notable performances by Cody brook and Morgan Day who have been consistent with their hard work and ability to read the game. We have also seen glances of brilliance and composure from Rahan and Matt Kelly. The highlight for Mosgiel in round was surely the significant, and symbolic victory over Dunedin Tec. Commanding goalkeeping performances from Zane have also not gone un-noticed, and a draw in the last game against league leaders Cavy shows that Mosgiel really do mean business this season. A disappointing 2-2 draw with Green Island, however, has kept them below Cavy in the league. May the good quality of football continue. All the best in Round 2 lads.
Caversham AFC
A close to perfect round 1 for last years champions. Picking up from where they left off last season, Cavy have shown their ability to attain results "week-in week-out". Honorable mentions go to Andy Ridden for a dominating and creative presence in the middle of the park, and experienced defenders Jude and Fergie. You can't deny their quality with the results they are achieving, in game showing the ability to play a passing game like Mosgiel, but also kick it long at the right times as well. It will be a truly interesting battle for the tittle between Cavy and Mosgiel this season. Another big win against Tec showed the quality of young Louis who seems to love scoring against them!
Dunedin Technical
Much maligned with the "route 1" unattractive brand of football, Tec have nevertheless shown that, this perhaps out-dated style of play, can still achieve results. Losses to Cavy and Mosgiel though have been damaging to a side that strives to win the league each year and always has a large proportion of Southern United representatives. We have seen nothing new this year from the top performers of the club, with Joy, Taylor, Ross, and Mcllenan all advertising "the tec way". Will be interesting to see if Tec can get back in the tittle chase in Round 2, especially after a convincing 4-0 dismantling of Green Island in their last game, and a demolishing of Uni. Could this be Tec picking up form and ready to get back into the tittle charge in round 2?
Roslyn AFC
A mixed bag of results for Roslyn has placed Roslyn in joint 4th place with GI after a comprehensive Round 1 of football. Undoubtedly a talented side, Roslyn is yet to hit the ground running in terms of team unity and performances, with standout performances from Attwood and Rupert. Still a side that is taken very seriously and capable of causing an upset, Roslyn will look to climb up the table in Round 2 and beyond it. Tom Stevens also showing his quality between the sticks for Roslyn as their newest signing.
Green Island
"The young pups" of the Dunedin League showing us that they are very much capable of playing good football in patches and have some talented young players to look out for in the future. A 5-1 win over Northern, 4-0 win over Uni, and 2-2 draw with Mosgiel has them sitting joint 4th with Roslyn on 7 points, but slightly ahead of them by goal difference. Kiore has scored and shown his quality and pace, but perhaps also his inconsistency in the last game vs Tec with a missed penalty. Dikstra has made some terrific saves and good distribution. Kirkwood, Mcphail and mchglisnki also look solid, but the team needs to work on their cohesiveness if they wish to compete with the big boys: Cavy, Mosgiel and Tec.
Northern AFC
A dismal and disappointing Round 1 has made Northen a team against which teams have come to expect an easy game. A well fought out 3-2 loss against Cavy and 2-0 win against Uni, however, has placed Northern above Uni in the league. Taylor Quirck and Angus Milne upfront have played tirelessly to make up for their teams poor overall performances. Labelled by some as a "cheap mans Dunedin Tec", Northern will look to capitalize on poor performances by the likes of Uni, Roslyn and Green Island to pick up some more results in Round 2 and avoid relegation (is there relegation this year?).
Uni
Bottom of the league. 1 draw, 6 losses speaks for itself. A team lacking any real character, however with a few talented individuals - Truth, Clark, Webb, but unfortunately the loss of manager Luiz and Rae upfront have proven costly for Uni after a much more successful 2014 campaign. A clear goal-keeper crisis is also a present reality for Hart's men. An exciting 3-3 draw with Roslyn the only positive result for Uni in their first game, but exposed by Tec, Cavy, and GI in the later stages. Uni must surely display much more quality in Round 2 if they wish to climb up the ladder and not finish last.
Final thoughts
In regards to the constant lack of success for Southern United, do you guys think this is due to poor management/player selection or lack of quality in our league? Regards, a concerned citizen.
Can we get review for round two since you did such a good job of the first round?
