Not yet. They might do what the Warrior's just did to Mcfadden and make him Terry's assistant for next year.
Can they afford Terry's $10k?
Can they afford Terry's $10k?
The board just need to ask themselves, can they afford to continually underachieve?

Your old friend Boylan
except he didn't ask for any coin, he would have done it for nothing. Get your facts right mate
Terry Boylan asked the Mosgiel committee for 10K, obviously they thought better of it, he also wanted to coach Roslyn again but they don't want him. Brookside wasn't sacked...
yarn right there, no source just talking pure dribble

Good start for Southern this year, Got a nice kit for once! Well played guys
Pre Season games. October 9th Tasman United play Southern United at English Park.
Canterbury play Southern in Timaru on the 15th.
Southern United sign 5 Irish imports
Good signs for Southern
not much chance for local up and coming coaches at FS then
Did no one else apply for FDM jobs in Dunedin and Sth Canty then? These guys just arrive and the jobs are handed to them?
up and coming coaches?! Who... Pfft. They've had their chance. This is exactly what the organisation/team needs to stay competitive and progress
Agreed. its been 10 years of pure struggle. Bad results, and top local players not wanting to represent. Here are 5 lads with top experience who want to be there.
Southern beat Tasman 2-1 in Christchurch. Both goals to Eric Molloy

Some information about each of the Irish players. I'm pretty excited about these lads! They're all from Wexford Youths, who are currently 11th out of 12 in the League of Ireland. Source and more info.

Things can't be going well at Wexford Youths for these five players to walk out before season's end - and most of them are first team regulars too. They last played on September 24 before boarding the flight to Dunedin - with five league games remaining:
https://us.soccerway.com/teams/ireland-republic/wex...
Wexford have won only three of their last 21 games.
The parting seems to be amicable though according to this Wexford club article:
https://wexfordyouthsfc.ie/latest-news/271-wexford-...
"While Wexford Youths are disappointed to lose the lads, we would like to thank them for their contribution this season and in particular would like to thank Lasty, Molloy and Mulligan for the significant roles that they played in helping the club win the League of Ireland First Division title last season." (Gained promotion by winning the Irish second tier last season).
I just hope they realise that the NZ league is not as strong as the Irish Premier League.
Maybe they just fancy some sunshine?
This amusing photo accompanies the article and must be of one of the departing players:

Exciting squad in comparison to the previous few torturous campaigns. The Irish lads should inject a lot of life into the local lads. Obviously a few of those Cavy boys deserved inclusion but otherwise the squad sums up the average quality of most Otago sides.
If the imports are all first team quality and you surround them with the likes of Little, Ferguson, Fitzpatrick, Ridden and O'Farrell then there is no reason this side can't sneak into the top 6. Good luck to the team, look forward to watching!
A bit disappointing/worrying that this forum has gone so dead leading into what is surely Southern United's most anticipated season?
Always found it crazy that so many football mad people in the city but most aren't very interested in their main rep side. Too much historical club bias? People fed up with past performances? Whatever it is, it's so different to rugby... they manage to put club rivalry aside for the provincial etc teams.
New coach and these Irish players sound like they're genuinely decent, plugging a few holes in our local depth. Don't exactly think we'll run away with the league but surely can cause a few upsets. Hopefully we can win in Hamilton this week to help get a good crowd to the home game at FS Barr stadium the following sunday.
I see they've just posted a video with the new coach on the Facebook page
Surely this doesn't really surprise too many people. there is a massive disconnect between the Clubs and National League sides.
Most of the influential people at club level probably aren't worried much at all how the National League sides go as long as there perceived level of excellence is maintained.
Maybe not surprised, still bloody disappointing though! I'm genuinely excited about the season & thought a few others would be too!
Clubs should be proud to have their players on the national stage. Of course, a few SU wins could change that! ☺
Most of the chat on here tends to be pretty negative, it could be more a case of no news is good news.
There's some videos up on the SU facebook page, including an interview with the new coach -
