Always been shit?  For an old head you have a bad memory.  And no-one was acting like we were the best - get a grip on yourself man, or at least if you are going to call names give it a decent lash.  We've gone from the third worst, to the second worst, to looking like we might be the worst by some distance in three consecutive seasons.  Sack the board, sack the coach before xmas please.

Canterbury Dragons used to be worse than Otago many a season ago, finished below you guys two seasons running 2007/08 + 08/09.
So what did the Dragons board do, got the BEST [including motivating] coach in the area along with a top back room crew around him.
On the playing roster thay got the best GKs [3 of them, of which 2 had played ASB prem only Batty had not]  and the BEST outfield players in the Mainland region.
What did the SU board go and do? Not a lot of planning that's for sure. Should've been sorted before SPL kicked off as to the coaching position at the very least. Get the best if you want results.
You should sack those mentioned in your post Doogal before next weeks game with Canterbury or you could be in the crap more than you think.
Who worte the bollocks about Southern Squad gelling well in the ODT on Saturday? I mentioned in a previous post this guy has NO clue about the failures that SU are having off the park as well as on it..

Final score today, Southern United 1 - Team Welington 3. Sounded like a hard fought game. Unlucky lads.

Really?

Stay with us Brookside. There's that nice edge I recall from way back.  And nothing in the ODT or Rab's site about the game either.  Media blackout from Luiz?

There was something in the ODT by Seconi, but it's not online.

Had an interesting wee chat with Luiz at training tonight. Not sure I agree with all of what he said, but he certainly has some different ideas on how to take United forward. Some of it won't go down well with some fans. Look out for the article on www.asbpremiership.co.nz at some stage later in the week,

Yeah, I've been searching for any video of Southern's games this season  -and there ain't any!!!
Team Wellington and Canterbury also don't have any You Tube channels this year.
You'll have to wait till Southern are on Sommet Sports on Freeview on a Monday night playing away to Waitakere (all Waitak's home games of course are on Sommet)
Other options:
All the Waitakere matches broadcast on Sommet Sports can be found complete on You Tube here (OFC Channel):  http://www.youtube.com/user/OFCfootball/videos

These channels are all currently active:

Auckland City TV You Tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/PhototekNZ/videos

Waikato-Bay of Plenty United channel -full home games: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UClIHK2pK_H-oU09GLaIq6FQ/videos

Hawkes Bay Utd channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HBUcam/videos

So you mean like promoting players from a third rate SPL team and stating thet this is the way forward. Gives us a TUI will yeah.
So  does he think this is just the intro to the big league? Or just pre season maybe. Intro and pre season to what? What the F.
Maybe the Dragons should fill the squad with Waimak players they always in for a good scrap. can't say that for some of the SU players. Roll over and give up after 40 minutes. Hang on the coach only puts the best players on after that, if at all.
My previous blog stated that the SU board as originally mentioned by Doogal should be sacked, I still stick by that the sooner the better foe Otago football . before you are the laughing stock of the NZ football. Worse the RHs out bursts after mexico.
This guy belongs in Billy Smarts.
Brazil have some shit coaches at National senior level [had to get Big Phil back the others being so shit] let alone in the back blocks of the football world such as Dunedin.

What an dumbass, arrogant SOB he is:
"I could coach a side that toils and steals one or two wins a season…'
Yes please Luiz and quick.
'…but what's the point if we're not producing better players?'
What's the point?  Er... winning is the only point at this level Luiz.  If you want to get involved in developing better players start with 5 year olds not National League players.  I've heard this BS before from coaches that don't know how to win and so they excuse the results with "Oh I don't care about winning, just about player development".
'Focussing on winning without producing better players is what this club has done for the last nine years and it's got us nowhere'
Piss off Luiz.  In one line you insult all the great coaches and players Otago's that have gone before - and there has been some great ones.  And as you leave tell us what your University club has done since you've been in charge.

Agree with everything you put in there mate.
Real bright spark you guys have for a coach. What do the Ass coaches think of being involved with a plan, what plan? Like this.
Better off at Billy Smarts is Luiz.
Don't fiorget his quote to players two weeks ago about trailing certain players in the ASB Prem games, HB and Welly games to be exact. Junior level coaches normally do that during pre season games Luiz, so you should stick to first kicks and other 4 to 6 Year old stuff. Forgot that's out of his depth these little ones can trap and pass a ball.
No wonder you can't get 10 people and a dog to your games, even the cats too bored to yawn.
If his players [thats what he's meaning] can't read a game and know what position to be in before the ball gets there send them to go play Rugby.
I take it SU will be looking for more players soon. Watch this space.
Be interesting to hear iif the SU starting X1 for the Canterbury game is named after training tonight. 2 games have been named after training 1 game not, balance the books maybe.

Malc will be laughing at that interview to be sure.  But nah that's not Malc.  It's the ex-Otago player ( a great one too) Stu Kelly I reckon - he's got more fire in his belly for Otago than this clown Luiz does, and he doesn't even live here any more.

Well atleast now we have confirmation that Luiz is seriously deluded, who wants to make the referral to a psychiatrist? He will need some support when he gets dumped and loses all his players by Christmas.

This is some of the strangest quotes I have ever heard from a coach. Throwing the league in order to develop players for the future? What are the odds of Luiz getting sacked before Christmas? If I was the board I would be contacting anyone to come sort this massacre out

The problem starts with the board, they set the goal then find a coach to achieve it. Gotta admire Canterbury United, in a similar situation few years back. Changed the coach to someone results focused then got on with supporting him to find the players and build the team, can't do much more than that. Looks like your board forgot to tell Luis something, or are they happy being the whipping boys of the league?

Ronnie good to see another pushing the Canterbury Way on the SU page. Much the same as I mentioned in my post a page earlier.
Just another note to SU fans, Keith went from Nomads [won 2 MPLs] to WoolstonTech [Won 2 MPLs, 1 before taking CU and 1 the following season] and Canterbury United took two players with him from Nomads to WT through to the Dragons, Batty and Pitman.

I haven't seen Canterbury United play that badly for a long time.
Still gave SU a lesson on how to win a game.
1st goal.Who was covering Claphams run from midfield to get to the back post?
2nd and 3rd goals came from pissing about with the ball in front of your own goal and then making a bad pass to put the Canterbury players in on goal.
Play like Barcelona is fine, just a note they pass the opposition to death in the attacking 3rd of the park not the defensive 3rd.
Sometimes your need to clear your line by sticking the ball in the other half and letting the striker earn his start, not doing it by scoring game winning goals.

Boy is my email going crazy!  Seems like losing to Canty is the start of the apocalypse down there.  One very irate fan is telling me sending on Ridden for Overmire to please the locals was 'a step to far'.  Was Overmire injured?  And another can't understand why Hindson is on the bench and didn't even get a run cos he's been one of the best performers this season so far.  And PC is going mental as well.  Gee I dunno guys.  Sort your shite out will ya.

Still cannot be a bad day for the Dragon's if Canty played badly but still won 3 - nil, not good news for Southern then.

SU had two early chances the first of I'd be disappointed if my junior players couldn't of put that one in the net let alone not make the keeper have to save it.
Canterbury had a truck load of corners in the first half and bossed the game except the first 20 minutes.
With a better game plan from SU Canterbury would've had to work harder for the points.
Not sure what game the SU coach was watching if the ASB Premiership site is quoting him correctly.
Not the same game the crowd I was with watched, game awareness? Like getting sent away for a fast break then get 20 metres in Canterbury half and pass 20 meters back into own half, not the players fault just the state of the coaching.
Can't see many paying $12 a game to watch this sort of football it's about entertainment from some form of attacking play.
Way better value at $50 for a season pass to watch Canterbury United at least go out with an intent to win games.

Thanks didn't doubt it but had to ask.
Question is which of the young kids on the park today will go the further SUs or the Canterbury lads?
Mitchell and O'Brien my pick, both learning how to play winning football.
