All these comments about Govan and Hancock are good - but if Gov is injured and Hancock unavailable it's all perfectly understandable - and a big shame.  And I heard through the grapevine Matt Joy has availability issues for a few upcoming home games - that may explain why he wasn't picked on Sunday.  Certainly Matt is a candidate for Otago's POTY IMO.  In that regard let's discuss that.  As a wee starter I have tracked player performance using a standard fantasy football scoring system ( I can post it if you want). To keep it sensible only players who've played 450 minutes (ie half the time) so far get a rating.  I've scored players by points per minute otherwise it goes a bit back asswards - the leaders are:

Coldicott: 6.7

Burgess: 5.2

Stevens: 5.1

Da Costa: 4.0

Ryder: 4.0

The trend is interesting because defenders do pretty badly (especially defenders who get CARDS - are you listening you little Scotsman?), whereas a clean nose and a few goals/assists puts you in good stead. But to be honest, we've been horrible in defence. Regan is a bit of an aberration - appearances, plus goals, plus cards plus a grizzly face - he's lucky no points are docked for being ugly.  And well done Burgess - his quality shows in the stats - but he's very lucky kilometers travelled aren't a factor.
