Dude, a ridiculous post is being that stupid that you believe the council control these lights.. 
They're actually controlled through individual  electrical boxes that are worked through local grids! The only way for them to "turn off" without a local cut is manually. Thus is exactly what occurred as multiple people saw this occur.
Maybe before taking the time to post a ridiculous response, actually look into it first. Otherwise you come across as a moron 
Get a life mate and actually talk about football. Were the lights turned off? No. Stinks of club bias rather than genuine reporting
