I'd say there's a few more than one missing.

And that season in the league:

So using your own twisted logic: the Phoenix would give ACFC and all those other pro sides a hiding?

I think its clear that the Phoenix are a better side than Auckland. At least it should be....

I'm not denying that, one is fully professional and one is part-time after all. But my understanding is Ricki has spurned previous offers of a match up, probably because he has too much to lose. I mean, imagine a bad result for the Phoenix, you'd never hear the end of it from the knitting circle. Click, clack, click, clack....
you also keep forgetting we have little to gain from playing Auckland city during the season
Correct me if I'm wrong but won't ACFC need to have aussie's in their team if they were to play in the A League. Kiwi's are classifed as foreign players????
We've got nothing to gain from playing anyone else in the season.
However it would be good to have a pre-season (A-League) triangular tournament comprised of:
1. The one professional footy team in NZ (happens to be Australian)
2. One fully amateur footy team in NZ (the 1st place or runner-up from the ASBP in the previous season)
3. One "community-based" footy team in NZ (happens to be Spanish)
Could be held at ROF over a week and have some meaningless trophy awarded (a packet of tim tams or chit chats depending on the winner).

Genuine opinion: FTFFA
Not for the Phoenix. Kiwis are classified as imports except where they play for the Phoenix. (and Glen Moss)

Thank you Yojitanabe. Much appreciated.
Edward always has a very courteous, measured and mature point of view in my experience. True blue is plainly not rickeroc - look at his profile.
All of us you mention also are active on the Auckland city fans site.
Personally, I like to post on here for a number of reasons. It's an open forum and this is a section to discuss asp teams. It reaches a larger and more varied audience than the Auckland one. Surely a minority posting an alternative opinion is good for this site. Finally, I like a good humoured wind up of occasion.
