Still no spot for Nix Reserves who I guess who are playing U17 boys again, or will they bump down a grade to be more evenly matched
Unless they play their Reserves (ie no off-season pros) and don't play for points I don't see it being worth it nor working (them being in the WCL). It felt like the girls couldn't field a team for weeks on end in the boys leagues due to abstractions ... so it would make a mockery of the top amateur Women's League if we just moved them there because 'the men have one' - especially now that there are National League qualification opportunities. We have already seen the impact it can have on the Men's Central League, let's learn from our mistakes and not rush into anything. Having an U17 and U20 World Cup (near) annually now will further compound these issues.
If they didn't play for points (in either the MCL or the WCL league) that could possibly work and alleviate some of the issues we are seeing.

... don't see how playing with U17 boys and having a 12 for / 75 against record is ideal for their development either.
The scores in the National League of Nix Reservers against the 2 Wellington and Central sides was 2-3, 1-4, 1-0, which suggests they would be evenly matched, even if you took guest players out.
They can always periodically play the boys in friendlies if they feel they need to play against faster opponents

Or they do the other way around. Play friendlies against women and play a more suitable boys league. When the FFDP programme was up and running the team were playing the third division/tier of boys. I think here they are trying to play in the top boys league so it’s clearly not working on many fronts.
Just trying to process the above viewpoints. TDP are mixed gender competitions (technically, all u17s are since, what, last year?). Why wouldn't the nix reserves primarily play there if they felt that was the best location for development i.e the biggest test for their players.
