I don't know why, but when I started reading it (before I clicked on the youtube link) I thought it was to The Pogues Fairytale of New York...

So... that got me thinking

Note, I'd like to change the Chorus not to say "boys", but to find a word that scans that doesn't exclude the women in the zone... suggestions welcome. (For now I have left it as boys).

We've been searching for an anthem... maybe this could be the one we adopt?

As usual, input, edits, improvements suggestions are welcomed...

Original Lyrics:                                               Proposed Fever Version:

They've got cars big as bars                            We've got guts big as cars
They've got rivers of gold                                  We've got stripes of gold
But the wind goes right through you                 But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old                                      It's no place for the old

When you first took my hand                            When you first brought me here
On a cold Christmas Eve                                 On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me                                              You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me                           Victory was waiting for me

You were handsome                                         We were winning
You were pretty                                                 We played pretty
Queen of New York City                                    In our windy city
When the band finished playing                        When the Nix finished playing
They howled out for more                                 We howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,                                       Phoenix flags were swinging
All the drunks they were singing                       Yellow Fever all singing
We kissed on a corner                                     We were pissed on a corner
Then danced through the night                         Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir                             The boys of the Yellow Fever choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"                              Were singing home and away
And the bells were ringing out                           And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day                                            On Nixmas day

You're a bum                                                     Roar were done
You're a punk                                                    Roar were sunk
You're an old slut on junk                                  Roar's like Muscat on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed   Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot                               He's a scumbag, a maggot
You cheap lousy faggot                                     He's a cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse                              Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last                                        I pray God it's his last

The boys of the NYPD choir                             The boys of the Yellow Fever choir
Still singing "Galway Bay"                                 Were singing home and away
And the bells were ringing out                           And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day                                            On Nixmas day

I could have been someone                              First half of the Fever: We could have beat someone
Well so could anyone                                       Second half of the Fever: We can beat ANYONE
You took my dreams from me                          Second half of the Fever: Nix gave our dreams to us
When I first found you                                       Second half of the Fever: When we first found you
I kept them with me babe                                  First half of the Fever: We keep them with us now
I put them with my own                                     First half of the Fever: We've made them all our own
Can't make it all alone                                       Everyone together: Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you                       Everyone together: We've built our dreams around you

The boys of the NYPD choir                             The boys of the Yellow Fever choir
Still singing "Galway Bay"                                 Were singing hom and away
And the bells are ringing out                             And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day                                           On Nixmas day
