All Whites World Cup Playoff - return trip bus Auckland/Wellington

Hi all,

I asked Nakedbus if they would be interested in running a bus service between Auckland and Wellington for the World Cup Qualifier.

They've come back to say that they can do a return trip bus for $60 if we can guarantee 49 passengers.

Thanks for your email and sorry for my delayed response.

I have spoken to our Operations Department regarding ' “Road to Brazil

2014 via Wellington' bus and they are willing to supply a bus on Wednesday 20th of November if you guarantee 49 passengers to make the trip from Auckland - Wellington.

For the return trip Auckland - Wellington you would be looking at approximately $60 return. Which I believe is alot cheaper than flying!!!

Also to clarify, they are called Nakedbus because they 'strip the cost of travel' - not because of any specific passenger dress code

We are looking at busing down there but not back so that would probably take us out of the picture?

not necessarily, you could grab a seat for the trip down.  We need a minimum of 49 return, any additional one way tickets should be fine

Thanks for your email.

Just to make it clear... Nakedbus.com needs to be guaranteed $3k for the return trip to cover the operating costs for the service. This will work well if 49 people purchase a ticket on the service. However if demand doesn't exceed 49 people, then I suggest you advise fans to book on our normbal nakedbus.com services to Wellington. These operate twice daily with an additional overnight service running Thursday - Sunday. Dates from the 17th November are due to be released early August.

To get a rough idea of the fans interested you could post a message about travel with nakedbus,com to the match, and measure what the response is?

I'll be driving down - and back - by car. Travelling in convoy could be fun. It happened that way last time on occasions, but by accident.

Sorry for my delayed response. After speaking to our Operations Department again, they are unable to provide a charter service. The end of November is coming into our peak season, therefore we don't have many spare coaches to do the trip.

If your still after a charter coach to do the trip, I would advice you to get in contact with a bus operator like Johnston's Coachlines. Alternatively you could advice fans to book on our extincting services on the nakedbus.com website.

Although according to someone on the ASFA (Auckland Sunday Football Assn) Forum, they reckon there will be plenty of spare seats closer to the date, possible for $10 each way

$165 has got me return flights, 2 days parking at Auckland airport, and a bed to sleep in on the night of the 20th.  Not bad really
