The Heskey rumour has been around for a while now so the fact that it won't go away and that no one seems to be trying to deny it would suggest there is something to it. Also, Heskey has refused to sign a new contract at Wigan.
Also, he has definitely improved since he left us. Being recalled to the England squad was a sign of that.
Heskey arriving would not see the end of Keane, they are very different players. He's the kind of striker that gives you a physical presence up front so you need to have a Torres or a Keane to run off him. He is a big part of the reason Owen did so well for us. He always got a hard time when he was with us for not scoring enough goals but that's not necessarily all that he was in the side for.
There's been some talk this week about how football in the EPL has changed and the number of teams that pack their defense to try to negate better teams (ala Stoke against us and Bolton v Arsenal on the weekend) and how better teams need to work out how to break down these defences. I think Rafa has an idea of how he wants to try to do that and Heskey is part of that plan. I hope so anyway.

Yeah, thats true. Improved yeah, but good enough? I'm not so sure. He's getting on now, although if we get him on free then there's no harm I suppose. I'd rather see Pacheco or Nemeth get given a run about, although they're totally different players to Heskey, and Heskey therefore does give us a "battering ram" striker which we dont have at the moment.
Agree with you, Keane is a totally different player, but also a different player to Torres. Yup, Ow*n did well for us, and its a reason why a lot of the bigger clubs have target men like that (although I'd say to a better quality). If Wigan get a point or three from this morning's game I'd welcome him back with open arms, mind! Strikers are judged on one thing though and that's goals...
Yip, if Rafa has a plan of how to break these teams down then I really hope it works. I, personally, am not sure getting a huge target guy in there to pump long balls at him to nod down to Gerrard etc will work, so I'd say its more complex than that. I think Rafa knows what he's doing!
Oh, in regards to Alonso, I meant in terms of form. He's been absolutely outstanding this season and is a huge reason we are (at the moment) top of the league, in my opinion. A real cultured footballer and a pleasure to watch.
