Serious question time Liverpool fans (shock coming from me right?). Is Rafa looking at strengthening the squad in the Jan transfer market. If so, who is he looking at purchasing?
Mate, I don't really know! As far as I can tell, we have very little money. I'm hoping we get rid of Babel and Voronin, but who would buy them for a decent price? Parker? Why another central midfielder? We just got Aquilani fit... Plus he's English = Expensive. RvN rumours were going around, but he's being whored right across Europe. I think we'll get a couple of players, generally we get one or two.

Babel and Voronin would be decent players at mid/lower table sides. Some of them have a bit of cash they may be willing to spend. All depends on whether those players want to go there of course.
Not all decent English players are expensive mate. Villa have assembled a large English based squad on a shoestring. It can be done if you shop around for the right bargain.
It's kinda funny, i think you are in the same position we were for a couple of years before Song came along for us. You need a decent holding midfielder. It's obvious you lot are missing Xabi big time. Masch doesn't cut it i'm afraid. You need some composure in there, someone to shore things up.
Masch is pure class. Seriously. But he'll probably be off to Barcelona, anyway. That old chestnut about his "wife hasn't settled"! The thing about Xabi is that he didn't do THAT much defending. It was basically Masch wins the ball plays it to Xabi who would just be the man and find some amazing pass. Always the right ball. So cultured. Whereas Lucas doesn't offer that balance. Not his fault, I still rate Lucas, but the balance isn't there when he partners Masch in the middle.
But the thing is, they aren't! Okay, Babel has potential and under the right manager/system, could be fantastic. But he doesn't suit ours. Voronin is just sh*te. But yeah, we'll see.
