Pretty dodgy alright. City setting up the other two clubs makes a lot more sense now.
FFP is a bit of a joke really. Man City should actually be able to spend however much they want. They got lucky with an owner with a lot of liquid cash so why shouldn't they benefit?
Man City has to show it doesn't make a loss, but when you have an owner who will just replace any loss with his own cash, what's the problem?
What I'd like to see is that owners are duty bound to provide funding for grassroots football England wide, i.e. goes into one central fund to be spread across England and Wales. If an owner spends $200m on his club, he also needs to contribute a 2% donation of 4m.
If team spends just 10m per annum, they have to contribute just 400k etc.
Because if that owner gets bored of their plaything and pulls out then you have a Portsmouth situation where the club is basically screwed and the FA has to try and bail them out.
No club should spend beyond their means.
But surely if an owner pulls out, the only way they can do this is by selling the club to someone who would need to show to financiers and the PL big-wigs that they can maintain the club at its current level of spending?
