After retiring from the game whatever became of Alan Devonshire?

He was coaching Braintree, and I think he still is (can't be bothered checking). I had a beer with him and Phil Parkes a couple of years ago, where he told me stories of coaching in the lower leagues, and I giggled way too much for a grown man

Ha, you met Phil Parkes. I knew him when he was at QPR. He had a shop on Uxbridge road. A sports shop called Parskeys. I went in there one day and he told me I'd just missed Devonshire and Paul Goddard in there. Big disappointment for me as I rated both players highly. I still bave a West Ham coffe mug Phil gave me. Miles Davis has a signed West Ham year book that I gave him as he seemed genuine enough. In the middle it is signed to me. Small world Frankie, small world.

Speaking of Paul Goddard where's he now? Parkes just had an operation for intestinal cancer, I hope he recovers. A top man who never got the international recognition. I thought he was better than Shilton.

PS: I hear Phil Parkes's operation went well. Fingers crossed.
