Not going to be easy for France, but then you've got to beat the best to win it.

The way Portugal played in qualifying, they'll be lucky to get out of the group. They need a decent forward and fast, otherwise it'll be a short tournament for them.

i'm a fan of Portugal but I have to admit that's kinda true. I'm a big fan of Nuno Gomes, but he 's not as good as Pauleta. gomes is the only decent target man we have at the moment. Having said that I really don't think they'll have trouble beating Switzertland and Turkey.

As with Euro 2004, Greece have both Spain and Russia in their group. I'm picking Sweden to be very tough too. I've always rated them highly.

as none of the portugal games were on tv i didnt get to see the team they used in qualifying, has helder postiga been playing? otherwise they could just use nuno gomes as the sole striker since they have quaresma, nani, deco and ronaldo who are all attacking type mids who can score goals.

I haven't seen Postiga play in a while actually. He's probably being rested. Makukula and Hugo Almeida have been the other strikers.Inter rocks2007-12-04 18:33:26

Spain = the most talented team at the Championships. It'll be interesting to see if they get it together and go deep into the tournament.

Sweden = massively overrated. Zlatan is easily their best player, but really petulant and has that nasty Balkans side to him that doesn't sit well with the rest of the team who are pretty average really.

Russia = one of the worst three teams at the Championships. Won't be easy to beat, but certainly not a side that's gonna have anyone quaking in their boots.

Overall, I'd say Greece has a pretty good shot in this group.

The Greek side is very different to the one that won 3 years ago. I am confident that if they play well and take each game seriously then they will achieve great things

I agree about Espana. I've been waiting for years to see them fulfil their potential.  Maybe they are the All Blacks of European football.

Twigara, Greece have experience now that they will only build on.  They now know what it takes to win a top level tournament, and they won't be riding their luck. I'm picking the mighty Hellas to be right up there at the business end. They are indeed a very good side.

Croatia's group:

Germany = side on the up, although I'm not as impressed by them as many other people seem to be. Klose is an excellent striker and works well with Podolski, but the key to playing Germany is to stifle the midfield and not let those guys get decent service. We're a more creative side than them, and they're certainly beatable, but will be a tough game.

Poland = the Poles strike me as a side that's good enough to qualify, particularly since even the best teams in Europe struggle to beat them at home, but is not really good enough to compete at the big tournaments. If we play to our potential (and that's not always a certainty), we should take care of them.

Austria = easily the worst team at the Championships. If we don't beat them in the first game, we should just pack up and go home straight away.

If my group predictions are right, then we'd play a team from Group A in the quarters, none of whom I'm particularly scared off, although Portugal would be the most difficult opponent of the lot. Win that, and a semi against another team from Group A or B (Croatia's group), and the path to the final doesn't seem overly difficult. And then in the final...Greece! Although Greece's path to the final is more difficult, given that many of the best teams at the Championships are on their side of the draw (by this I mean Spain, France, Italy and Romania in particular).el grapadura2007-12-06 11:24:19

oh yea almeida has been going alright for bremen ive seen him in a few CL games. pauleta will be missed as will figo, hope the other midfielders can pick up the slack. would be good if quaresma gets decent game time he's got the potential to do great things, especially if teams mark up on ronaldo.

[QUOTE=el grapadura] [QUOTE=Inter rocks] Portugal will win group A and go on to win the title. And Ronaldo will win golden boot.

And not for the first time, Ronaldo will win golden cheat award for his diving in the box, after the weekend. How he isn't penalised heavily and banned for this sh*t I will never know. I'll take nothing away from his sublime footballing ability, but the years it takes to build a great reputation are undone in seconds in my book when a player decides to take that option to win penalties.

Would FIFA agree Ronaldo's diving is "for the good of the game"?  What will they do about the way Ronaldo's constant cheating by diving to win penalties is damaging the reputation of football? And to such a huge global audience as well.

Any views on this? Don't anyone try tell me I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill please. I want to know what will be done about this cheating. I'm fed up with Ronaldo getting away with this time after time.

group a will be an interesting group. all 4 teams can go through (as in all the groups) i think the swiss will be one of the qualifiers and it is very tough to decide between portugal and the czech republic to join them. portugal weren't at their best during qualifiers but with some decnt finishing they can be a big threat at this tournament.

i'm not very certain on group b germany should qualify but who goes with them is a big question. croatia have been very impressive over the course of qualifying and could go a long way. austria are rubbish but one can never simply discount the hosts (e.g. south korea 2002 wc making it to the semis). poland will be interesting to watch, at the 2 recent wcs they were sh*t but they are a team on the up and have  certainly showed they can play against the big teams but have alot of problems to sort out before having a decnt shot e.g. defence and strikers need to be sorted, the kind of goals smolarek was scoring against the likes of kazakhstan will not do against the likes of germany; but if there is anyone to do it it is leo beenhakker.

no idea on group c all teams are good enough to go through

group d should be fairly straightforward. spain as always don't play to their potential but will do enough to get out of the group. sweden are always a strong side and have a nack for always getting out of their group. greece will provide tough competition but i doubt they will be able to get out of the group; they certainly can make the playoffs and i wouldn't be greatly suprised. russia will be glad that they're there and england aren't.

just my opinion, you don't have to agree with me

Yea, Germany are a top team with a good chance of winning it.

I don't really rate Poland. Croatia should really beat them - unless Poland play their defensive game well and scrape a draw. World Cup last year Poland were rubbish - only made it because they got drawn in the "Group of Life"

Austria is trash.
